I moved in Stonehedge about two yrs ago. It looked like a nice place to live in the KCK area. The two years I lived there management changes often. Kids broke my window throwing roller blade throuh it. Swat team was as my door because some lady had a con hiding in the attic. I moved Jan 09 out of stated provided my forward address and never was contacted regarding my deposit. Recently it came across my mind that I have not recieved my deposit back so I called and a rude woman was on the other end. Asking me why I waited so long and wouldn't provide me any information. Told me she don't have time to go digging around in boxes! I had contacted the office several times regarding my depost and left several messages in the past. It's funny how you get harrased for these deposits, rent on time ect yet they don't do their job regarding getting your deposit. So now I'm in the process of faxing picture ID address ect...I didn't have to go through that to give them my money.

It is against the Kansas Residential Landlord Tenant Act for the apartment to have not returned to you your deposit. By law, they have NO MORE than 30 days to return to you the full amount or the balance minus any deductions for unpaid rent , damages or cleaning. This is called a Security Deposit Disposition. It shows the amount of your deposit plus every single item they are charging against that original amount. You are intitled by law to collect 1 1/2 times the original amount of your deposit. Ex: On a $500.00 deposit you would now be owed $700.00. I suggest you call Housing & Credit Counseling Inc. 1-800-383-0217. They have a staff that specializes in Tenant rights. Plus I'd call an attorney. Amazing how a letter from one of them can motivate people. Ask for the 1 1/2 times your original deposit.
