probably not worth your money

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I'll start with the good things:
The location is really hard to beat. I was able to walk to class everyday this year.
The maintainance guy is great!
There is plenty of parking for everyone.
ok.. so the bad things:
The apartments are pretty small for how much you pay. I lived in the 1101 building (it has the 2-bedrooms) and honestly, it looks like a cheap 70s motel.
Our kitchen is pretty small, the floor and countertops are stained, and the doors of the drawers and cabinents have fallen off several times.
Our heater is pretty much a bunsen burner. You actually have to light the pilot light with matches, and it has a tendency to blow out when doors are open and shut. The maintainance guy helped us out a lot, but it was definitely a pain. We spent several winter days cuddled up in blankets with no heat.
Our air conditioner leaks all over the kitchen floor... Its never fun to wake up in the morning and stumble into the kitchen for some breakfast and end up in a puddle of yucky water.
One of the bedrooms is a good size, the other is very very small. I could barely squeeze my twin size bed, desk, and dresser into my room.
The apartment is terribly insulated. Our gas bills for the winter were in the $140 range-for an 800 square foot apartment. I have a feeling most of that went to heating up our porch. The living room wall is literally pieces of plywood held up over some screen. Whenever the wind picked up the little doors would swing open and let all of the cold air in. no good.
The piping seems pretty badly insulated. In the winter, the hot water lasts about 2 minutes.
The "pool" is on the opposite side of town. I find it kindof dishonest for them to claim that they have a pool. Its all the way out in another apartment complex on 6th street. I've been there once.
Our neighbors are pretty loud and obnoxious... but that is bound to change from year to year. Although I have woken up on several occasions with people passed out in the courtyard and beer cans littered all over the place.
The laundry facilities are disguisting. I just went ahead and took mine to the laundromat on 9th.
Also, around the april-august time of year, the complex is littered with for lease signs.. almost every five feet. They use sidewalk chalk to mark all over everything. Its really not a big deal, but stuff like that really annoys me.
So.. to wrap it up. The only redeeming qualities of this property is the location and the maintainance man. Which is undeniably wonderful. But the apartments are pretty crappy (this only applies to the 1101 building.. the one-bedroom places look newer and nicer). The rent for our place was $618 a month without utilities. So... you can probably find a better place to spend that money.
