This apartment complex fairs alot better than many in Lawrence. When you move out you are given the walk thru to sign and if you sign it and then disagree with it later there isn't much you can do because you signed it. Based on my experience when you live in an apartment you should expect to pay for living there. Walls are painted and carpets cleaned for new tenants just like they were when you moved in. You don't want to move into a place where the walls are dirty and if you make the walls that way you should have to pay for it. If you don't like the aspect of living in an apartment then buy or rent a house otherwise you have to come to expect things aren't always going to be peaceful and quiet. Why should any apartment absorb the cost of you living there when you move out...your deposit is put down so the apartments have security that when you do leave and something needs to be fixed they will be compensated for putting the apartment back in mint condition.

What? Are you seriously trying to say that a previous resident should pay for paint. So, if you move in and don't do anything to the walls you will be charged for making it ready for the new resident. This is beyond Unethical, this is flat out stupid. The security deposit is for damage to the apartment and if none is done then there sould be no deposit taken out. It sounds like people should make very detailed notes of what there place looks like before they move-in and out or they are going to get ****ed!

I agree...repainting an apartment is usually considered "normal wear and tear" unless the walls are filthy and have dozens of nail ho;es in them.
