When I signed the lease there was no pet mentioned in the lease but then I found my roommate has a dog in the apartment. I talked with the manager he told me this is my problem and he can't help, however, he mentioned that he will check if my roommate paid pet deposit or not, this means he cares about money not about residents in the apartment. I told him I have allergy but he doesn't care, he cares only for paying the rent. In addition, I have asked him to fix the balcony's window for more than a month, and he didn't fix it, I don't know what type of maintenance they have'!!!

My car was scratched and I had to do polishing and painting of the front doors, one of my neighbors told me to park away from the complex to save my car. It is noisy and I can hear people's conversation, if you are a student or you want quite place then stay away from this complex.

I am replying to Vernie, I don't know how long have you been here in the complex. I need to emphasize that I don't have anything against staff in the office, however, I respect them and I do respect the manager. I think he tries to make the complex better than other places. What I wrote is exactly what happened to me in this complex. When I chose this complex I looked and searched for apartment ratings and read what other people said about it. It has a good rating compared to others, that the reason why I chose to live here. I didn't pick other places because they have poor reputation and ranking. I think it is my duty as a resident to write what happened to me so other people will be aware not only for this place but for other places and be picky.I can't deny that the place is located near new Walmart, Hy-Vee, CVS and in Lawrence Transportation bus (T bus), in addition, the complex clean, new, the bedrooms are huge and they provide basic cable TV. I agree with you -Vernie- when you said I have to fix my own problems with my roommate, however, there was no pets mentioned in the lease, I wouldn't have lived here if I knew there is a pet(Dog) will be in the apartment, simply I have allergy to pets. That is why I called the manger and talked to him. How do you behave if you have troubles in breathing like Asthma and I smoke in the apartment? I missed some classes in the morning since I keep coughing in night and Hardly sleep. I am not in a position to argue with you, I respect your comment, the only one who suffers it is me. I am the person who has to find some one to sublease my spot and move out and paying subleasing fee. I am student, I need to concentrate in my study. The lease is protected by Kansas state law anything not mentioned in the lease is illegal. I can compromise with anything except my study and health. I advice students to visit KU legal services before signing any lease, visiting complex in night and weekend and try to talk with friends( current residence) in complex before signing any lease whether here or any other places.I wonder how do you know I have trouble with my roommate?

Most of this is absurd and it sounds more like you're taking your frustration with your ROOMMATE out on the property owner. I live in the same complex and I do not find it to be extremely noisy. You will get more ambient noise at certain times of the day with the proximity to the local high school, but it is most certainly NOT noisier than other apartments in Lawrence. Having a problem with your roommate's pet is between you and your roommate. Your option is to try to resolve it peacefully between the two or to move out and find someone to take over your lease. The property manager asked about a pet deposit is because that is the ONLY way they could step in and ask him to remove the pet is if it had been un-registered. The staff here is very much NOT about nickel and diming their residents, which is absolutely fantastic.
