The Legends is an ok place to live.
I will give them some credit.
However, I really didn't care for a lot of things and that's why I'm moving out this year.
The "Prison" bus that you have to pay for, whether you ride it to campus or not, you MUST pay $100/year.
I don't like the schedule (comes every 50 minutes), so I stopped riding the bus the second semester I was here.
I find the staff somewhat intimidating and rude, because I will walk into the office and they will be talking about residents and how rude they seem.
This year, I got 2 knocks on my door having management pretty much begging me and my roommate to stay another year.
They asked me why I was leaving, and I told them it was way too noisy for me.
People will be coming back from the bars or having parties outside (even in the winter time) until 3-4 in the morning.
The maintenance is really backed up with repairs, so don't expect "unnecessary" things around your apartment to be fixed promptly.
When I first moved in, my two roommates and I each told the office about mold in our apartment, tiles that were coming off of the kitchen floor, and a ceiling fan that literally had a missing light fixture and wires hanging from it.
Neither the fan or the light worked, and still does not to this day.
Maintenance told us to go out and buy a light fixture and to fix it ourselves, even though we just moved in! The ventilation really stinks too! You have to have each vent adjust properly to get proper airflow.
Staff has even admitted to this problem that the ventilation was built incorrectly.
While the person(s) on one side of the apartment may be freezing in their room, the person(s) on the other side of the apartment are roasting! Police have been over here a few times since I have moved in here due to noise, a drunk guy falling down the concrete stairs, and other party related crap.
A sorority lives here as well, so the noise is not fun at all when you have to get up early for class or work the next morning.
The other thing that really bugs me is having monthly inspections...I would much rather live in the dorms in that case; more privacy! Sometimes people will also leave their trash outside their doors and one day it was very windy and the trash was everywhere!
The only positive things I can think about the Legends is it is a somewhat decent price in Lawrence for having a furnished place, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, fitness center, cable/internet, and utilities paid (unless you go over your wattage).
