My husband and I liked living in our townhouse well enough, except the rent was high and they wouldn't let us move into a smaller place or even talk directly to the manager. When we moved out, however, we got a huge leak in our ceiling crossing our entire kitchen which a repairman suppossedly fixed 2 days before and our toilet started leaking. I hated how they would just walk in unexpectedly. One even came into the apartment while I was taking a shower! I ran downstairs in a towel and he apologized and said he had the wrong place!!!
We spent hours spot cleaning the whole place, shampooing the carpet, scrubbing the tub, even though it was already clean.
We got $30 of our deposit back. I'm not kidding. They charged us for everything they could imagine up. They even charged us for "Pet Urine Cleaning" which was total BS! Our one dog is four years old and has NEVER made a mess on our carpet! I think they just saw that we had a dog(from our pet deposit---which we never got back) and figured to charge us for that.
If we were really smart, I guess we would've taken pictures of the carpet, fridge, shower, etc. before we moved out, but since we don't have proof; I don't think we can do anything about it.
Oh, and guess what! They even added up our charges wrong!!! They were $10 off. I checked and double checked it, and just got a letter today, with $1.50, saying that's what their figures showed.
Meadowbrook are cheap A-Holes, looking to rip off newlywed college students (with little money to begin with) for everything they're worth!
Renter Beware!!!!!

I am resident at Meadowbrook and you need to read your contract. Yes, they may have mishandled some things but if you requested them to fix things then you should expect them to show up. Duh! Also, it is in the contract that you are suppose to clean the carpet before you leave. That is in the contract. If you don't then that is your fault. As far as the pet urine. It probably was your pet because Meadowbrook didn't allow pets until just recently, 3 years ago. As far as adding wrong. Ok, it happens. I beleive they were finding a new accountant at that point. Next time read the contract and clean up after yourself and maybe you will not be charged so much.
