This place was the best!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

My name is Jessie and I had lived here for one year. The staff was great (especially the maintenance guys) and the complex is very close to campus.
I paid approximately $830/mo for a three bedroom apartment and the utilities were rather fair (about $70-100 extra a month per person for laundry costs (had to use lots of quarters), gas/electric, cable/internet). Also, they included basic cable and water into the bill for most of their apartments, which a lot of the surrounding apartments do not.
I got most of my deposit back (except for the fee for the carpets, which is very understandable) and for some additional cleaning. However, they did give us a prorated amount for the last month since we had left two weeks prior to our lease ending.
Sometimes they offer specials for certain apartments and especially for those renewing your contract or referring someone (the referral plan happened after I left but it sounded like a really good way to make a little extra $$).
The only thing I didn't like was the fact that ants were coming into my apartment. For some reason it took a while to find the hole (that they were coming from) but after it was repaired, guess what, no more ants!
Also, I paid for covered parking, but people who think they can park at Meadowbrook without being a resident, parked right in my spot. Luckily, I called management, and they ticketed the car (really nice!).

The only suggestion I have for them is to maybe use stickers for Meadowbrook residents so that they can easily find parking spots. I have seen some kids park at Meadowbrook (who don't even live there) and then take one of the buses (there were two that I knew of) to campus. That's why parking is so limited at Meadowbrook sometimes.

What more can I say' They have a fitness gym, two pools (only one of them you can bring your guests though - another downside I guess), covered parking, and are about a mile away from Budig/campus.

The newer apartments seem a lot nicer than the older ones, so if I were you, I would get in a reservation ASAP. I know that when we first started looking at these apartments, we made our reservations in February 2007 before moving in on August 2007.

Also, make sure that you know to have a backup plan if you are moving in from another apartment. Other apartments have leases ending on July 31st but sometimes, especially if you try to reserve a spot, you more than likely will not get an August 1st move-in (which makes sense after management explained it to me. It's because they have like 400 tenants moving in/out and they can't all move them in on the 1st. So they do need a few days to one week for turnaround time). Just FYI to you college kids who are moving in, make alternate arrangements if your move-in date is not August 1st.

Other than that, everything was great, and if I do go back to grad-school next year, I will definitely hit up Meadowbrook first to see what they have available for me!
