Naismith is HORRIBLE, here's why:

If you are a KU student, or future KU student looking for a place to live, do NOT choose Naismith! It sucks! These are my reasonings:

*The rooms are vastly overpriced ($750-900) and really aren't that nice at all. For the same price or less, you can get a nice 1bed/1bath apartment.

*The food is horrible...I rarely use my unlimited meal plan because the food is consistently so gross.

*The staff is horrible. My roommate caught the maintenance man that had fixed our broken toilet wiping his tools on my towel that was hanging in the bathroom. DISGUSTING!!!

*Quiet hours are rarely enforced, even on a quiet floor (I live on one and it's still noisy as hell through most of the night). Also, the walls are paper thin, so you can hear EVERY thing that your neighbors do.

*I have lived here since August of '07 and they have been "renovating" the elevators since October. This means we have only had one elevator since October, and that elevator usually breaks down about once a week. While recovering from knee surgery, I had to climb 8 flights of stairs multiple times a week because someone broke the elevator (including people doing things to intentionally damage the elevators).

*You'll be living with drug dealers and alcoholics. The sign "Do it all at Naismith!" is actually referring to drugs and not your educational endeavors.

*Most of the residents at Naismith are spoiled rich kids and have no respect for others. They will be loud and obnoxious all night, will throw their trash everywhere, act like they own the place, etc.

*Naismith makes it very had to leave early. You have to have the person approved in writing and pay a $300 early move-out fee.

*If you decide you don't like your floor, roommate, suitemates, etc. they will charge you $200 to move. The only reason they didn't charge me to move to a quiet floor is because I pointed out the fact that quiet hours were never enforced...after I pointed that out, they decided NOT to charge me.

*If you want a parking spot, you have to pay around $130 for a permit. Even still, parking can be a pain. My suitemate had a parking permit, but her car was still towed, because the towing company didn't see her sticker. Also, be warned that your car will probably be keyed, dinged up, have beer dumped on, or be projectile-vomited on. Also, someone threw a glass bottle out of their dorm room onto some cars in the parking lot and shattered the windshields of a bunch of people in the parking lot. To date, that person has not been found.

All in all, if you are a student SERIOUS about your education (unlike most of the residents here), do NOT live at Naismith. I got duped and hate it! I have lived in Student Housing before, and Student housing is a much better deal. McCollum was ten times more enjoyable than Naismith. If you don't want to live in Student Housing, find an apartment! I have already found a 1b/1b with a washer and dryer in unit for about $150 less than Naismith, and many apartments in town are on the KU bus route. All in all, I can't wait to move out! I will NEVER live Naismith again! vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
