I lived at Tuckaway (on 6th Street) for seven years (only left this year when I bought a house) and could not have asked for a better place to live. First, it's situated in a beauiful environment on the edge of the Lawrence Country Club golf course. The brick-accented buildings are all well-maintained and attractive, and the impeccable landscaping has really matured over the last few years. It is set back from 6th Street so road noise is very minimal.

The apartment floorplans are well-laid out. Luxury touches like crown molding, ceramic tile floors, and walk-in closets are standard. My upper-level apartment had vaulted ceilings and paddle fans in the living room and bedrooms. A TV was built-in above the gas fireplace in the living room. Modern kitchen and laundry appliances are included.

It's got great facilities, too. There are two pools, a game room, computers with broadband access, and a fully equipped fitness center. Garages are available. The entry to the complex is gated, which helps cut down on the number of cars coming in.

It's not the cheapest place in town, but rents are definitely reasonable. The small added cost is worth it when you take into account the amenities provided, that maintenance issues are taken care of promptly and the grounds are kept extremely clean.

The staff (both leasing and maintenance) are friendly and accomodating. I never had any problems in the seven years I lived there.

Apartments in Lawrence just don't get any better than Tuckaway--honestly. I looked at several before choosing Tuckaway and none of them came close to offering what Tuckaway does for the price.
