I have only lived here about 8 months, and am happy. Here's the honest truth:

There was a price discrepancy, and this is like the other reviewer's complaint:

I was told that the apt we wanted was a specific price. The gal who helped me told me that if I put my deposit and application in their drop box overnight, that I would be able to get that apt at that specified price. The next day, I called, and they told me that I would have to pay a raised price for the apartment I had just put down a deposit on. I went back and forth with the gal, then I asked to talk to the manager. I was given to Lona(sp'), where I mentioned that the practice is just short of fraud. She was very very very nice, and gave me the apt at the earlier (lower) price. Obviously there was a mixup in communication, and she fixed it right then and there.

There are problems...all apts have problems, but all my problems have been addressed immediately by maintenance, and the staff is ALWAYS ALWAYS nice and polite and ORGANIZED.

We have had several electrical problems that just can't seem to get fixed. Maintenance comes, and says it is fixed, then we have the same problem. Nothing against them....they'll eventually get it fixed.

And, there is a roach problem...I think this might be because they had curbside trash pickup until just a couple months ago....people could leave their garbage at the edge of the sidewalk, and maintenance would pick it up. Now we just have to drive our garbage to the dumpster. Anyway, we see roaches just walking in under our front door. They just walk right in.

Our kitchen is sadly too small for me...I cook a lot, so it isn't a good setup for a cook. There is also very little storage space.

I live near the corner of nall and 135th, so we hear horrendous noise from those 2 roads, especially drag-racing that occurs after 11pm (usually closer to 2am). We also have to keep our blinds closed most of the time, since the parking spaces come almost up to our window, and people can look into our apartment. It's either the windows or the walls, but you can hear conversations going on outside when you are in your unit.

I don't really like the fact that maintenance does routine inspections...I feel nervous about strangers coming into my apartment, but I appreciate that they are doing their job, and keeping track of things. I see the inspections as a good thing, and they don't happen every month...more like every 3 months, unless your request some maintenance.

I have only mentioned bad things, but I really am pretty pleased. We rarely hear our neighbors upstairs (there are 4 of them).

The parking situation is bad in some areas, but we have never had a problem finding a place. We have a carport, but often park in the unpaid spaces, and have never fought for a space, contrary to what some other tenants have complained about. (we have 2 cars)

This is the first time I have had to deal with going to the office to pick up mail. Our mail carrier has a problem with delivering to the wrong apartment...we have also received 3 packages from usps that are left in the office, and have been either cut open, smeared with dirt, or both. The mail doesn't arrive until LATE in the day, and sometimes mail that should arrive every wednesday, doesn't arrive until the next day, because the carrier can't handle their workload. Obviously not Weston Point's fault....just a frustration of the area.

There are only 3 parking places available for picking up mail, and often, the maintenance guy is parked in one of those, which is frustrating when you can't find a parking place.

Don't let these minor complaints put you off. I really love dealing with all the gals at the office, and I will probably stay another year if they don't raise the rent. (We pay close to $900/mo for a 2bd/2bth unit.) Carports are 35, and the water bill runs us $26 per month. Electric bills are much higher than what we were told they'd be, but they are all electric, so NO GAS BILLS.

Some other good things: Each apt has their own water heater, so you aren't fighting for hot water when your neighbor is taking a shower. Also, each apt has a washer dryer..nice and large...and this is probably what raises the water bill.

If you have dish network, beware...the installers might give you a hard time about not being able to install in your apartment. Be persistent. We had to close our account because the installer said we were too far from the "ground". Then we were billed for a cancellation fee (but got out of it).

Try to get an apartment that isn't next to a garage..or at least make sure you are the person renting that garage....the noise from an opening garage door is TERRIBLY LOUD when you are sleeping (bedrooms back up to the garages).

I have been honest in my review, and hope none of this review really keeps you from moving into Weston Point. I really love the area, the service, and the ethnically diverse neighborhood. (Every ethnic group represented here.) Everything is laid back and quiet here. I'm glad, because a loud or obnoxious neighbor would be easily heard here.

SO FAR SO GOOD??? You're much more tolerant than I would be! For $900 a month, you get price discrepancies, constant electrical problems, cockroaches, late night street noise, ground level windows that offer no privacy, intrusive routine inspections, limited parking for mail pickup, terribly loud garage doors, and high electric and water bills. On the plus side, you get your own water heater, washer and dryer, and nice office gals. The cockroaches, having to put my trash in the car and drive to an inconvenient dumpster (YUK), and no parking for mail pickup would be enough to make me look elsewhere. Seriously, this is a very thorough and honest review, and I appreciate your willingness to give details. Thanks!!

Exactly!! For that price - buy a house. I've seen more comments than I want regarding roaches in OP. So much for OP being clean and decent. I need to move to be closer to work and wonder if it's really worth it! Noise is also a concern for me. Just because you're neighbors are quiet - you still have issues with the street and not everyone's neighbors may be as considerate. Thank you for your honest review. I will keep looking.

Wow- I am having a very stressful/disappointing problem with mice in my apartment here at Weston Point. I am a nervous wreck- screaming at the sight of them and moving around the apartment in fear of seeing one. In a matter of two days, two have been caught by the wooden mousetraps in my apartment. The explanation received from Staff and Maintenance in regards to mice in the apartment is that this is to be expected as the weather gets colder, the rodents will be seeking a warmer area. Maintenance put down sticky mouse traps. When everything is quiet, the rustling can be heard. These mice are bold. They will run across the floor while we are sitting at the dining table or watching tv! If these mice were not an issue- I think living here would be all the more nicer!
