Sitting on the fence...

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
When I first moved into Heather Glen, I was pleased. The management was friendly, my needs were met, and I was able to paint the walls!! I was excited to be able to have a place to call my own for years to come. I was going through a divorce & it was really hard to find a place within my income limits. I was amazed at the space of these things! I had a 2 bdrm, 2 bath with a fireplace due to the second closet. It was true that the outside was looking like shambles & some of the carpet was terrible, but I had one with new carpet, so it wasn't bad. However, in Feb. 07, we were informed that Lamar sold Heather Glen to Noland properties. Several things changed & we were not notified until it was already happening. At first, they said nothing would change really, but then the rent changed, they added over $20 for water bills that they said we weren't being charged for. I had some other issues with the technical issues & they were semi willing to work with me on them. The staff is super friendly, but I am being forced out of my apartment that I thought I would live for several years & I don't have a choice as they want to gut the apartments. I am going to have to move any way I look at it, and with them raising rent $150 for my unit, I cannot afford that. I know that my neighbor is in the same position as me on this, but they said they wanted to get rid of the "rift raft" that "specials" or leasing deals might attract. The roads are in poor quality, and they did put on some new siding, but it isn't the greatest when the rain hits. The pool is working, but instead of spending $4 million to kick the residents out, they should have informed us a little better. They told me they were going to replace the appliances & change the layout of a FEW apartments when I asked them if this would affect my lease. I was never able to use my storage unit & there were too many leaks in the basement for me to not want to use the laundry facilities. If you have the money to waste, I guess it is a good place. Most the residents are pretty friendly.
