Lived here for a year, and I certainly don't recall any "gang bangers" or anything like that other people were talking about. Yes--there did seem to be some shady people around, but in an apartment it wasn't like I was really concerned with getting to know my neighbors.
Management seemed fine, rent was very reasonable when compared to other apartments in the same general area.
Place looked nicer inside than on the outside. There were roaches, for sure--big ones--and I was a neat freak. Parking was horrible--no assigned parking--and sometimes had to park VERY far away from my place.
Best thing, I guess, was no real safety concerns, even considering living across from the mall. Not bad for a TEMPORARY first place--just don't stay too long!
