Too many problems

While it hasn't been completely horrible living here, I have to say I'm looking forward to getting out in the next month or so. Here are a list of just a few issues:
-Our apartment was without AC for an entire month in the summer of 2007. Got the run-around from the office staff every time I tried to call... "We're working on it", "There's a lot of AC's to fix," "They've already been out there to look at yours", etc. Eventually, after two weeks, I got the truth... my entire AC unit on the roof needed to be replaced. How long could that take' Well, they had to go through corporate to get permission to even buy the new unit. When I complained about the time, I was treated VERY rudely by an associate, who informed me that the company was spending "over $3000 on a new unit." This is my problem... how' Aren't they supposed to keep my apartment LIVEABLE' Finally talked to the manager who offered $100 off my rent or to move me into a new apartment. Yeah, right, I'm going to pack up 4 years of my life in the heat and just move. Sure. After an entire month of no AC they knocked half our rent off for the month. Yay.
-More AC troubles with the BRAND NEW UNIT the next year. Maintenance was called out multiple times, and it wasn't fixed until they got an actual AC repairman out to look at it. He was able to fix it within minutes.
-ROACHES. We had TERRIBLE roaches for about a year. Finally I had to pull everything out of all my cupboards for a thorough spraying, which seemed to do the trick. I see a random one every now and then, but nothing like before. They were everywhere. I'd see at least 4-5 scatter every time I turned on the kitchen light. I even saw them in my living room, dining room, and bathroom. Ugh. Gladly this problem is mostly resolved, but now we have crickets...
-Maintenance is incompetent. They will promise to fix something and then seem to forget about it. It took them months to clean our completely blocked dryer vent (a safety hazard!) When they said they fixed it, all they'd done was blow a leaf blower through it. Finally got professionals out and they fixed it properly... the professional said he'd never seen a dryer vent that badly blocked. There were remains of a bird's nest in it.
-We had water stains and damage on our ceiling that took them nearly a year to fix. I kept complaining about it, and only when the plaster started falling off the ceiling did they do anything about it.
-No garbage disposal in the kitchen! I didn't notice this before we moved in, and I really wish I had. This is just something you assume they'll have... I was wrong!
Now for a few good points:
-The apartments are spacious, and I love my walk-in closet
-The kitchen, dining room, and living room have a nice open floor plan. Plenty of storage space in the kitchen, and a nice mirrored dining room.
-Easy access to highways and shopping. uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax

You must have a different closet than ours. Ours keeps getting stuck on the track. We have the roaches too. Even after cleaning and "disinfecting" all the cabinets, we still have them. Our ac was leaking very badly. My fiance bothered them everyday for almost a month when we moved in. They had to go up to the roof. They said the wires in the box were fried. I was so worried to use the unit afterwards.

I just think there are too many problems and not enough maintenance people to go around. I understand they are busy but when you call the office and give them an issue and EVERY TIME they take your name and number and EVERY TIME promise you a call back and you never hear anything until you complain again it's ridiculous. I am in customer service and they DO NOT know how to treat people. If they would at least call back and say it is still being worked on that would at least let me know I haven't been forgotten. Is anyone ever in that office at 5:59pm on any day?!?

I agree. None of those people know how to treat us with respect. I get the same response when I have to call more than 3 times to get something fixed. I told them that i am not paying my rent until all my issues get fixed and they said that they will take me to court. Good luck! I cant wait to show the judge the horrible living conditions. I have pictures of everything wrong in my apartment. If they dont fix this soon I am calling the health department and the news so everyone in kansas city will know not to come here.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have had some problems with the leasing office. Do you remember who you've talked to? I usually talk to the same 2 gals every time I'm up there and they are both super nice. I have had a few problems in my apartment, but nothing major.
