When I was looking for an apartment in the Lenexa area, The Oaks seemed like a good deal for the money. They aren't the newest or most modern but they were safe, clean, and in the area I wanted to live. My first year was fine. My second year, things started to go down hill. This is my third year and I wish every day I had not accepted the deal they offered me to stay. They are totally inconsiderate and unwilling to help with any issues. While my maintence problems are not large, they are totally ignored. I called for two months about problems with the drains and the screen to the deck being fitted wrong. I finally went to corporate with a complaint about my calls not being returned. They said they hadn't had anyone working in the office for over a month and that the person who was checking the mail didn't know the code to the answering machine. So, no maintence calls (unless they went to the emergency line) were being answered for over two months. Supposedly they have someone in that office now, but it has now been four months of my calls never being returned. They did repaint the units last fall. However, they painted half our kitchen in October and said they'd be back the next day to finish. I didn't hear a word from them (again, not responding to my phone calls) until the end of February. They left a note on the door saying to remove items from the kitchem becaus they were coming the next day to finish painting. My roommate and I moved everything off the counters and off the walls...only to have them not show up. So now our kitchen is taken apart and we are just waiting until who-knows-when so they will show up and paint. This is a total disgrard for their tenets. Clearly, our lives and the state of our apartment means nothing to them. Also, I pay for covered parking and the spots are unusable when it rains. The spots are near a hill that has no grass on it. When it rains, the spots flood with mud and water. I have to get my work clothes dry-cleaned every time I walk out to my car in the rain because I have to wade through a muddy mess.
