Glad we are moving out...

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2003
I was strangely relieved to read the other reviews of Chesapeake Estates. My husband and I have lived there for 3 years and put up with so much because it really is the cheapest place in the area to live. We looked around for another apartment at one point, but decided to stay and tough it out another year. Let me think of a few complaints to share (they will sound so much like many of the other reviews)
1) The ceiling above the shower leaked and we complained. Took a few times before they came out. Then they literally cut a 2' X 2' hole in the ceiling...and left. We were stuck with this horrible hole looking at cob webs and pipes for about 2 months. When we went in to ask them to fix it, they told us they had 'forgotten about it.'
2) They come in your apartment and don't tell you. You can tell they were there because stuff has been moved or there is dirt on the carpet.
3) The carpet, paint, linoleum, etc. are the lowest grade possible. The carpet will not come clean, and I dread when we check out tomorrow as I am sure we will get charged for it. It was not new when we moved in, and we have lived there 3 years. It should automatically be replaced.
4) We listened to every move that our neighbor made upstairs the whole time. And, she was very quiet. But you can hear every footstep. Gets old.
5) When they fix things, they seem to do the least possible work necessary. i.e. replace a board in the fence but not repaint the whole fence. The result is a trashy apprearance throughout the complex.
6) The pools are the nicest thing about the complex. HOWEVER, I was completely grossed out when I went to the restroom near the smaller pool. I have never seen something so gross and disgusting. I would not have been surprised to see a homeless person living there. And with the restroom out, you know where people went: in the pool.
7) Fortunately, we had our own washer and dryer. But the laundry room was a sty. Completely disgusting. Amazing this exists in 'Johnson County'.
8) I haven't dealt with management much, but when I have I always got the impression that they didn't have time for me, rushing to be finished talking to me.
9) We haven't physically lived in our apartment for the past two months. We bought a house and asked to get out of the lease for the remaining two months. They would not let us, so we have paid two months rent just for our health. There are empty apartments everywhere, so they couldn't care less.
I know I sound horrible, but these are all things I would have liked to know when I was looking for an apartment.
Keep looking...there are quite a few apartment complexes in Lenexa.
