I understand the fact of 'you pay for the service you get'... but I do not believe, if you get anything for a 'lesser' value that the customer service side of the deal should be anything but professional!!!

I was also a first time renter. Chesapeake Estates was in the process of 'becoming' Wind River Lodge. By the time we decided to move out they claimed we did not pay our first two months of rent fully (if we did not pay it correctly and we were new tenants, wouldn't you call us to inform us of the issue'' It wasn't their fault the people who ran Chesapeake messed up- it was our fault). We had two months of $150 off rent due to a move in special and then we suggested someone to move in. They also LOST our deposit (due to the change of staff and a paperwork mess- they claimed). And that was only the beginning. To be fair, they refunded the deposit but it sure took time and efforts to get them to work with us on that. Let alone the emotional stress of the whole situation. I am not upset about the fact that we had to pay a bit for one carpet stain. I am upset about them losing our deposit, the way they treated my family and myself, claiming we didn't pay our rent all the time (when we always did), being VERY snotty to the residents, never investigating situations, BUGS, smokey hallways, dog droppings everywhere, cops visiting all the time, poor quality of work, and well just having no remorse for how they treat people.

I stayed for another 2 dreadful years after they screwed me and my old roommate (only because my other/newer roommate didn't want to move again). For the next apartments I rented I took pictures of the conditions and had them sign & date everything. Now I KNOW that is what you are suppose to do in the first place. I wish someone would have explained that to me before. Even my parents were so shocked by the treatment we recieved- welcome to the CORPORATE WORLD! I avoided contact with anyone who worked there. Rarely ever went to the pool or the clubhouse. I know it sounds pathetic, but I was afraid of them somehow finding a way to mess more of my life up.

I heard many awful RUMORS (which I won't state since I was not a witness) about the staff (past--maybe some present) that had gone on... which makes me fully understand how and why this place was/is soo horrible.

I have always worked in customer service positions and maybe that is why I cannot wrap my head around people like this. I understand it's all about the money in this type of business- but you can always get your money by being RESPECTFUL-- you do not always have to be a careless rude individual. But I do thank them for giving me the willpower to buy a house so I will never have to deal with this company again. I will never rent from Price Brothers or recommand anything they own.

I completely understand everything you described. I moved in there several years ago. It was my first apartment on my own. I lived there for 2 years. The first year and half, I never had one problem, rarely saw cops, and neighbors were friendly. The staff in the beginning were nice, only so they could get me to move in, then as soon as I did, they were rude, left me rude voicemails and left mean notes on my door. I, as well, have always worked in customer service and CAN NOT believe the staffs attitude towards me. I never went to the clubhouse either because I deal with enough rude people at work, I didn't want to deal with it at home. I absolutely avoided going anywhere near the staff. But when I had to to get a package, they just stared at me like I was an idiot, they didn't greet me or say anything, just stared and I had to say what I wanted, then they finally got up and got my package!! Then one night one of my neighbors (come to find out later, didn't even live there) yelled out there apartment door telling us to shut up then the cops showed up. That amazed me, in 2 and half years never had a problem with a neighbor. I heard my neighbors all the time, whether they were outside, walking up and down the stairs, or just in their apartment. It's part of being in an apartment!! People are just rude and out of line!! This place is absolutely ridiculous!!! I really don't know what happened though, I loved this place, then they hired all knew staff and it went down hill....FAST!! Good luck to those people that still live there.

I'm seriously confused by your issues with this place. I've lived here for almost a year now and it's probably the best apartment I've ever had. My building had a termite problem...days later it was fixed AND the maint. guy cleaned out the furnace room where they swarmed, without me even asking. My AC works beautifully and efficiently, my gas bill was virtually nonexistent all winter, all my appliances work well despite the fact that they're older, and the office staff has never been anything other than professional and friendly to me. I live in a great building, with great people, and I really would recommend this place to people looking for apartments. To people reading these things I recommend that you go and see the place for yourself before you judge. As far as finding cheaper places in the area...I wish someone had told me where they were because I spent 3 days 8am-5pm looking in Johnson county and didn't find another apartment complex with a price nearly this good. I'd definitely be signing a second lease at WRL if I wasn't getting a new job that makes it an impractical location.

I think it really matters what type of person you are-- I have heard of a few people that don't mind the place- but for the most part, most of the people I know who have stayed/lived there-- which is about 20 people- most didn't like it. The girls I spoke with, disliked the place and the guys didn't mind it... Sexist? Maybe? But that was my personal expirences. I heard most of the complaints were about the staff there, being snotty and what not. I even had a friend who worked there... The only good thing about the place is the pool. Overall.. most people seem to dislike the place. I know my standing- I would rather pay a little more for a place that I would be proud for living at, feel safe, trust the staff, like the neighborhood, and etc...

I currently live there and I hate it! They are all the rudest women I have ever met. Icalled about a complint about recent construction workers blocking all the parking spots and blocking me from being able to leave in the morning and they basically told me to deal with it and it wasn't their fault! Once my lease is up I will be moving!! My Boyfriend complained to the manager about the attitudes of the employees and she basically told him to f off. the customer service is just astonishing!
