Not worth the price

Years at this apartment: 2005-01-01 - 2007-01-01

We have lived here 2 years and can't wait to leave for these reasons:
When we moved in, we were concerned that we'd be able to hear a lot of the noise of Aggieville late at night and were reassured that the windows were good enough to block it out. Don't fall for that. We have to keep our fan on at night to drown out the noise, which makes our electric bill high.
The walls aren't nearly thick enough. We can hear out neighbors on ALL sides having casual conversation. When walking through the hall, we can hear people in their bathrooms. When in our bathroom, we can hear the person above urinating. It's just disgusting.
The color combination of our apartment is horrible. We have gray walls with a blueish-green carpet.
You're allowed to have 2 tennants per apartment, but they only give you one remote to open the gated parking lot and one parking permit. The other person has to find a place to park, be it on the street or in an hourly lot...which you get ticketed for if you're there more than 3 hours, even though you live across the street.
The gates to the parking lot fail to work properly weekly. They are supposed to be closed after 5pm and on weekends so people going to Aggieville can't conveniently park in there. I have come home at least 10 times to see the gate open and tons of cars parked there that don't have stickers. Same thing during the day. Students park there and walk to campus.
We were told that if we renewed our lease with them, we would get a $40/month discount on monthly rent. We renewed and rent went UP $20!
While this is a convenient place to live if you work in Aggieville and/or are a student, I would save the money and commute from another place. It's just not worth it.

I am the current manager of these apartments, which continue to be quite popular. We take noise complaints, gate malfunctions, and parking issues seriously and encourage tenants to report any problems.
Parking is tight near campus, and especially at this location. Residents must sign off that they understand they receive only one parking permit per bedroom. While you could justifiably complain about this, you understood it when you signed your lease.
I know of no instance in our company where a decrease in rent is offered for renewal. It must have been a miscommunication.

I understand that the apartments continue to be quite popular, and I can see why. They are convenient for those who partake in Aggieville festivities and the night life.
I complained about our neighbor at least five times because he had more than 2 people over and they were up until 5am some mornings playing loud music and yelling. After five times, something should have been done.
We completely understood that we would only be getting one parking permit, but we weren't told that until we were going through the lease. That would have been nice to know before we toured twice and were given move-in information. It wouldn't have been a big deal if the gates were properly functioning. When we notified the office personnel about the gate, it would take a few days for it to be fixed.
I understand that you are (obviously) a different manager than the original. You don't need to spend so much time and effort defending the complex. Every apartment complex is going to have some bad reviews. The problems that we had were not with you, they were with the original managers. I suggest you stop trying to sway peoples' opinions about Aggie Village on here because it just makes you look like a jerk. Let people have their opinion.
