Brush Creek Lane Duplexes

I live in these higher-end duplexes. With the advent of a new property manager, many things have gotten better. My biggest issue is that, like most places in this city, there are too many college-aged kids who have no respect for their neighbors. When you've got kids, it would be nice to have people who understand that all-night parties shouldn't happen.

Up until last year, it was peaceful and quiet, albeit a bit dusty (it's off a dirt road that the city refuses to pave). But a construction project started next door, making a 1 acre lot with a one family home into a PUD (thanks Manhattan - everything is PUD now!) and allowing the property owner to throw up 13 housing units in that little space. So anyone who moves in here after us is going to have to deal with buildings right out the windows, less privacy, and most likely (due to the types of units being built) more college students.

There are little problems, just like everywhere else, but I've always had great response from maintenance and management. They do try to fix everything...they even notify the neighbors about complaints (unfortunately, they don't keep them anonymous). Bugs aren't too bad - they spray every month in the summer and every other month during the cooler weather, plus change the furnace filters every other month.

Their lease is the biggest problem - applies to all MDI properties, too. If you give notice, your lease will expire in the following month. If you give notice at the end of October, you're out end of November. AND...even if you give notice that you're leaving on the 15th, they'll keep the entire month of rent regardless. Not exactly the way I would like it.

Parking is good - 2 car garages for the 3-br units, and 1 car carports (with long driveway) for 2 br units)...but when you have 3 college students sharing a unit, and they bring friends, it starts to get dangerous in the tiny circle.
