I've lived here almost 2 years now and loved my apt for about the first 6 months.
After the assistant manager moved from my building things seemed to get worse. My building became filled with mexican trash. Tell me how 4 of them live in a one bedroom apt' If you come here to retire, please understand YOUNGER people do live here, COUPLES live here and yes, even people with CHILDREN live here. It's not going to be quiet 24/7. If your retired, (which almost everyone here is) and you think the rent is just way to much if you have to put up with "other people". MOVE!!!!!!
The atmosphere is good, the people are nice, and if you get to know your neighbors you won't have any problems. Like others have said, maintanence is horrible! I requested my patio door be fixed, (when I moved in, and again 6 months later)which has a huge hole in the center. What was I thinking, on a nice summer evening I couldn't leave the door open because mosquitos would eat me alive. Our front door had to be fixed several times because it wouldn't lock properly. I asked in Sept that they re-attach my folding doors in my laundry area and that has yet to be done. The hot water knob in the bathroom won't turn the water off, they have fixed that twice and we finally just turned the entire thing off. If you want hot water, hop under the sink and turn on the valve.
I will say something good about this place though - I have my own washer/dryer and with the utilities included in the rent I never have to worry about the utility bills. I can shower all day if I want, run 20 loads of laundry a day and have my heat and air conditioning at the temperature I want. Granted, I definately pay out the bum for the utilities, but I use what I want and pretty much when I want. I love my neighbors, most of the time, but just remember - this is an apt complex. If you want EVERYTHING to be wonderful all the time, buy your own house!
