both good & bad

I really wanted to live in an older complex, figuring they'd be better built than the crud that they're building these days. My specific apartment is pretty nice, we've had a few small problems that were generally resolved very quickly. The main problems have occured with the building we live in -- the basement is dank, the lights are always burned out, there is water everywhere and the washer and dryer look like they are falling apart, the storage units are frequently not cleaned out after tenants move out, so there is some creepy stuff down there. There were rodent problems that took three months to have resolved, but it's all quiet now. It's a quiet area, close to the highway and there's always enough parking (major plus) but be prepared to pester management multiple times if you want anything to get done. Demand to see the apartment before you move in -- some are great, some are falling apart.
