I have lived at Hillsborough for 2 years now and have had very minimal problems. Some water leaked from the above apartments in my bathroom -- it was fixed that day. I heard a dripping noise in the utility closet -- fixed that day. They even installed an ice maker in my freezer per my request!

I've never once had a problem with the office staff. I pay my rent on time, go in and speak with them if I have problems (which are few and far between AND promptly attended to), and they've always been extremely nice to me. If you don't want to deal with the office staff, you can always call in maintenance requests 24 hours a day.

As for parking -- I pay for covered parking and highly recommend it. I did have a slight problem parking extremely near my apartment if I returned at, say, 1 in the morning or so but there was always a spot within a two minute walk or so. With covered parking, you no longer have this problem... and it's only $30.

Safety -- never had a problem. I didn't even know that cars were being broken in to until I came on here and read some of the reviews. I've taken walks at night and have always felt safe.

I don't have issues with hearing people above me (you can hear them sometimes in the kitchen or when the lady above me sings opera, but that's no big deal). No dogs barking, no babies crying, no smoke smell. It's great.

The hot tubs randomly spread around the complex are also an added plus to living here.

I've personally referred 6 people to live in this apartment complex and would not do so if I didn't believe they were great. The only reason I'm now leaving is because I have to move because of school... otherwise I'd be staying put.

Oh, and one more thing -- they are EXCELLENT at cleaning off the roads and walkways when it snows. Even before it stops snowing I've seen people plowing the roads and laying down salt.

So, to sum it up: good parking, great maintenance, good staff, great safety, good complex. Highly recommended.

FYI: My rent includes wooded view, pet rent, washer and dryer, and covered parking.

Hillsborough does have some GREAT features - the washer/dryer, excellent maintenance, and covered parking (a must in my opinion). The not so good: personally, I didn't like the woods/wooded view because of the bugs and wildlife all those trees attract. The parking lot could have better lighting, but any complex has its share of breakins. Soundproofing was decent, not great. Although I didn't have any real negative dealings with the office staff, I must admit they aren't the most professional bunch I've encountered. I witnessed them treating a visitor rudely, and one in particular treats me as if she is better than me - whatever! I'm leaving because I found a better deal in OP - good workout facility, gated parking, and one month free, I couldn't resist. Bottom line: Hillsborough is okay, probably better than average, but I'd shop around before settling here.
