Noisy, dirty, and no amenities. Torries Chase used to boast about having a pool, recreation room, playgroud and basketball courts etc. Well the pool is raggedy and is usually closed for most of the summer, the playground has gang-related grafitti everywhere as do some of the buildings and trash bins, the existing basketball goal is on the seedy end of the apartment complex, and there is NO recreation room any more. The homes on the block east of the apartments constantly have there fences "tagged" with graffiti. That was nice cul-de-sac to live on once upon a time but now there are for sale signs in many of the lawns. The laundry facilities used to be open 24 hours a day but since there has been a certain influx of thugs and refugees SLEEPING in the laundry rooms they've had to lock them up at 10:00 every night.... sad... Every year after the snow and ice the streets get lined with pot holes. These never are repaired before October. Soon it will be summer, you can drive through the parking lot and see all the men sitting on the backs of the pickup trucks drinking beer all night and gawking at every female that walks by. It's a very unclean and unsafe environment! This used to be a very nice place to live and in a great neighborhood and now it is apparent that things will never be the same. The apartments are so broken down that most are beyond repair. I'm sure they will be condemned soon! Beware!

As a long-time resident of Torries Chase, I have a few things to clear up for you...

*The pool was closed briefly last year for IMPROVEMENTS (i.e. to make it BETTER)- not just because they didn't want to open it. This year, they opened it almost a month early, and I see the staff out there every morning taking care of it.

*As for the grafitti, the 1 or 2 times I've seen any on the property, it was cleaned up by the next day. To think that Torries Chase is responsible for cleaning up the homeowner's fences is ridiculous.

*The laundry rooms are locked for security purposes! If there were people camping out in them, do you expect the managment to do NOTHING about it- they're trying to be proactive!

*Potholes happen- drive through Missouri.

*I read the newsletter every month, and there is ALWAYS a notice in there about people drinking in the parking lots. I also talked to the new maintenance guy last week, and he said that they're really cracking down on it- something that the last manager didn't do. They're calling the police every time they see someone, or the manager and maintenance are personally getting them off of the public grounds.

I've been at Torries Chase a long time, and I've seen a few managers go through here. Since the current manager started last fall, things have improved measurably, and I only see it getting better. They have a whole new staff, and I really feel like they care about the residents.

The thing I don't get is why residents don't police their communities better. If you see "thugs" in the laundry rooms, or people drinking in the parking lots- CALL THE POLICE! The only time I've seen the police stop people drinking was when the maintenance guy called them last week. I feel really bad for the staff sometimes because they have to listen to all these complaints, and people don't realize that they have lives too- they can't police the community 24 hours a day. It's our job as the residents of this community to make sure that we're taking care of it. It's sad that instead of standing up and taking ownership of the place that you call home, you'd rather just sit back and blame it on everyone else.
