I enjoyed the walking trails & that was about it!

It all started before we even moved into the apartments. I received a call @ work from one of the staff stating that we couldn't move into our apartment because the guy wouldn't move out. 1st of all, why are you calling me @ work, getting me all frustrated & stressed when that is YOUR job!!! So they made a deal with us. We moved all of our stuff into a garage that they let us have free for a week, while we moved into another apartment for that week. That gave them time to get the guy out of the original apartment we signed for & have it cleaned for us to move in. While we are there for this week, they asked if we just wanted to go ahead and live in the other apartment...it's going to cost a little more since it had vaulted ceilings & it's an upstairs apartment-not what we wanted. So of course we declined. We moved our stuff, again, into our original apartment & we are happy...for the time being. Our fridge broke down several times and the maintenance attempted to fix it. They finally replaced our fridge, but they never offered to replace the food we lost. One day I get the mail & notice that we have several "insufficient funds" tickets from our bank. OH this gets good, I know it's long, but people have to know. So my husband & I go to our bank to question this. They say that AMLI has taken 2 rental payments from us, but they are 2 different amounts. We were on auto-debit. So, we go to the office to get this straightened out. They didn't know what happened, so they told us that they would take care of it & that they were so sorry. We trusted them; WRONG CHOICE. The very next month, same thing happened. Went to the office to ask what was going on. They said they were so sorry & that they would fix it. Again, we trusted them, but also kept an eye on our funds. We asked to be taken off of auto-debit. They assured us that it wouldn't happen again, but we insisted to be taken off. Also, they said they would take care of us. We noticed that they never paid us back our insufficient funds like they said they would. I would go into the office or call to get this taken care of. They did refund us those other 2 rental payments, which by the way were someone else's rent. This all happened back in 2007; we just now, yes 1 year later finally got this taken care of. So we decided to move into a 2 bdrm. We noticed that there was a vacant one in the same building so we inquired about it. We had no problems getting it & it was a short & fast move! They gave us a pretty good deal for a 2 bdrm & we were happy with that. Then our renewal came around, not thinking that rent would go up that much. The $100 increase set us over the edge, so that's when we decided to buy a house. If we were wasting our money on this apartment, we had enough for a mtg payment & we would be investing, not throwing away our money. Another thing was the norm apartment noise issues-this particular apartment was only rented out to party kids & I would wake up in between the hours of 1 & 3 AM. Not on a normal weekend, on a weekday. Most of us work GET A DAMN JOB!!! I did complain on several occasions, but nothing was ever done. I didn't think it would be so hard to break a lease, especially if you're buying a house. NO BREAKS. We didn't know we were even going to find a house and we also took a gamble on the time frame. We don't even live there anymore & we are still getting hassled from them. I cleaned those apartments better than when they did when we first moved in. The staff told me that the cleaning person didn t even bill them, because it was so clean I was thinking, all they have to do is paint & replace the cheap carpet. We get a bill for the carpet. Also, they are not returning our deposit or pet deposit, since they replaced the carpet, because of "pet stains", we are not nasty people, yes animals have accidents-we cleaned them as best as we could. They wanted to charge us almost $400 for the carpet replacement & if we didn't pay it, they were going to turn us into the credit bureau. I asked them if they charged for human stains & they said, "That s what the deposit is for"...so what the hell is the pet deposit & monthly pet charge for''' They never had any problems with the first apartment we had & I know there were "pet stains" in that one. We ended up paying for half of the carpet bill. The carpet is crap & they nit pick anything & everything. I feel they are pissed because we decided to not waste our money with them & that we reside in a house instead. PLEASE DON'T LIVE @ AMLI!!! If you are wondering why we wasted 6 years with them, was the convenience both my husband & I worked right across the street.
