It's Okay

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007

I wrote a review last year on 3/16/06 titled "My Last Year at Lexington Farms," this is a follow up to that review with comments on remarks others have said since then and issues that are currently going on at this complex.

First and foremost, the supposed water bill issue is getting fixed as they have decided to use a professional metering company. Supposedly we were going to have our bills on the 18th of this month. It is now the 25th and as of last night I did not have the bill. This is the first month, but hopefully it will get better.

More on that next year I guess since I have signed another lease. I did have to do some negotiating on the price. They seem to only raise their prices and not always with the rate of inflation. This year it was almost triple the amount of inflation.

This complex does show you a model apartment when you come to look. As with any complex that shows you a model apartment do not sign the lease until you have seen your apartment. Not only that, if you need maintenance done to the apartment do not sign the lease until that is complete and you have done a walk through seeing that they have completed your requests. Your apartment should have a screen door. If it does not I would tell them to put one on before you move in.

Maintenance, is still as bad as last year. The 48 hours thing is a joke people and if you think that because it's not fixed in 48 hours they will let you live there rent free, guess again. They will find some reason not to follow through with that promise. Which is probably the fact that maintenance will be in your apartment within 48 hours (or should I say approximately two business days; meaning if you call on Monday morning, they will show up Wednesday any time, could be afternoon evening or if you call Monday at 5pm it's possible they won't show 'til Thursday 'cause the order was not put in 'til Tuesday) and attempt to fix the problem ergo it's not there fault it's not fixed properly.

This year I have had my toilet clog several times for some reason. Maintenance was good at getting out there the same day except for once when the order never got placed, which that was a lovely experience.

The office has gone through several staff changes. Stacy and Martha are the only two left from when I first moved in. Both are great and helpful, just don't get on Martha's bad side. Sofia is one of the new girls I dislike. She is very cold and forgetful. The other girl seems to be very nice and helpful, although I do not know her name yet. It'd be nice if they had name tags at this point. This summer they tried to have summer hours which were a joke, I would often go over to find them closed when their sign said open.

I've never felt unsafe in this complex. That doesn't mean leave your doors unlocked. It simply means if you take normal precautions you'll be fine.

Our walls are not paper thin. Granted I have a friend in the complex and we have noticed different things about our apartments despite having the same floor plan; i.e. outlets and switches going to different things, lights in different spots, etc. All little things only associated with a different building or perhaps a different floor level. Neither her walls nor mine are paper thin. If you can hear your neighbors music they have it up way too loud.

I don't think the insulation is poor at all. My electric bill averages $40 and that's with me on the bottom floor and keeping my apartment at 74 degrees. I realize that the buildings were constructed at different times and have some slight differences, but I would assume the type of insulation would be the same across the board.

I've had a few more problems finding parking this year than last, but it's not bad yet.

The pools do always have bugs and plants in them. I think because they put plants close to the pool, not because they don't clean them. The day time does seem to be for the families and kids. The evening is when the older adults come out and lounge around the pool. Alcoholic beverages are consumed despite what the signs say, but the noise level is kept down. Nobody has ever complained else I imagine the apartments would start enforcing rules about it. I hope nobody does and realizes that perhaps by 8pm you should be getting your kid ready for bed and let the young adults in the complex without kids enjoy some peace and relaxation.

I have heard from some that I know who clean the complex that the bathrooms at the pool are disgusting. Honestly, I've never gone in them and don't plan to. As for feces in the pool. I have never witnessed that.

The pools did open late this year, I think because one of the pools was broken so they were trying to wait to open both of them at once. I think they realized that wasn't possible and finally opened the one due to the complaints. In regards to no lifeguard on duty, I don't know any apartment complex that has a lifeguard, so I think that request is a bit ridiculous.

Irregardless the pool situation really did suck this year. However, I think they tried to compensate by having them open later than usual.

Lastly the complaint on the weight room not being lit well enough astounds me. Not quite sure what they are wanting to see. I know I don't want to be blinded when working out. However, it can be crowded during peak times and especially in the winter months after new years. But I would argue that any gym around the area is that way, so if you think you can do better else where more power to ya.
