Bad sound insulation - less-than-honest management

I rented from this place specifically stating that I kept nighttime hours and wanted to be able to watch a movie after 10 without getting noise complaints. I was ensured by Alana that my second floor apartment had concrete floors and excellent sound insulation.

3 noise complaints into the first month, this was apparently not the case. Never did I recieve any details from management about the nature of a noise complaint, times, or where it was reported from. I was issued a 14/30, and remediated the situation by providing contact info to the entire building stating that we weren't aware of noise problems till after the fact, and that if contacted we would remediate them immediately.

This worked....AMLI stated that if we were to recieve another noise complaint, we would merely get another 14/30 and not a notice to vacate. 11 months later, after AMLI offered us an extension that we signed, we recieved 1 noise complaint and a notice to vacate in 30 days. The complainee argued with the apartment mgt. after we told them that we were being kicked out, arguing that it was too harsh of a punishment. AMLI would not budge. We offered to move to a ground floor apartment, as "walking around" seemed to be the source of our noise complaints. AMLI would not budge.

We refused to pay termination of lease fees as we felt we were unjustly ejected. We were sent to collections on AMLIs behalf. We acquired a lawyer to represent us - AMLI ceased contact with the lawyer after an initial note - then reported us to the credit bureaus. I now have a marr on my record that is preventing me from renting from other complexes because of their misrepresentation.

Bottom line - this is a large corporate complex of apartments that are nice at surface level, but poorly constructed. Management was not professional in their handling of our situation. SEk1KnECheF1ATXbXtrZ
