If you like trash thrown in the hall, trash and beer cans in the bushes and lawn, kids screaming and crying in the halls and parking lot in the middle of the night, partying and fighting in the parking lot and halls, walls so thin you can hear which program your upstairs neighbor is watching, black mold in the laundry room, washer and dryers that are constantly not working - although we've been told for almost a year they are going to be replaced, windows that are so poorly insulated your curtains move with the blinds drawn and the windows shut, pest extermination notices for your building every month - does that tell you something - with less than the state required 24hrs notice - which is difficult if you have pets, several adults and children living in one apartment, car windows broke out, police responding to calls on a nightly basis, this place is for you.
I no longer allow my grandchildren over because I don't feel it's safe. My 16 year old stepson will no longer stay overnight because he can't sleep for the noise and stress. We have had to get a hotel room a few times just to get some restful sleep.
When we or our neighbors have complained about noise, partying and fighting that goes on, especially with a couple of our other neighbors, we are told to contact the courtesy officer. The courtesy officer is a Kansas State Trooper who supposedly walks the grounds every night although I or anyone I've talked to have never seen him. Here's the drill: call the apartment answering service, they contact the courtesy officer, if he is off-duty and not sleeping he will call you back then come check it out. So no anonymity and the party has moved on by then. There have been threats in our building from tenants to the tenant who filed a complaint on them.
I have no problem with foreigners and have been roommates with friends from mexico, france and japan, but this is a total culture shock. There is no respect for neighbors or the grounds. I almost expect to see helicopters overhead monitoring the streets.
Don't fall for the one apartment in the one half of the building they show. Ask to see the rest of the buildings and try to catch a tenant or two on your way and ask them what they think of the place. You'll probably make tracks.
As far as the ratings go, can you get lower than 1'
