Everything went down hill

Where to start... I chose this apartment purely based on location. It had quick easy access to both 435 and 69. It is very centrally located for an easy commute anywhere south of the city. I use to live in Olathe at a very nice apartment complex that isn't that much more $$ than this place. It was harder to get to work because it was located off 119th street and was hard to get on 35 in the morning due to traffic congestion.

The Staff:
When we moved in we were greeted by a lady named Rose. I don't know if she is still around or not but she is the only person worth a dam in the whole place. She could follow up on things and make us feel like our complaints were being heard. The assistant property manager is named Alana and she is worthless. In our dealings with here she has been the most unhelpful, unkind, rude, arrogant person I have ever had at an apartment complex.

A few of the issues we ran into:
We first moved in June. After a week we noticed that our roof was leaking. The leaking water had destroyed our entertainment center. When confronted with this issue the management was not apologetic whatsoever. They made it feel like it was our fault for putting it under the leaky spot. After four months of complaining they finally addressed the leaky ceiling in September. It still leaked on occasion when we got a very large rain storm.
In November we went home to visit family for Thanksgiving. While we were away on the holiday, we came back to find our bikes and grill missing off the deck. I filed a police report saying we had been robbed. The door was unlocked and those items had been removed from our home. After a couple of days I thought to call the office and see if anyone else had gotten their stuff taken. They told me that they had taken it because we were not allowed to store stuff on the deck! They didn't give us any notice they were entering. In your lease, it says they have to give you notice unless it is emergency maintenance. This was no emergency. Plus they didn't lock our apartment back up and it remained unlocked for a four day weekend. I leave at about 6am for work and don't get back till around 7pm. They fined us for not picking up the bikes and grill within two weeks but they were never open when I was home!
There were lots of other little problems with bugs and rats but this one is what takes the cake. When we moved out they ended up trying to sue us for rent that we didn't owe. Elana was very rude and unsympathetic and was unwilling to admit her mistakes in charging us money we didn't own. She was trying to sue us rent for July when we moved out in the middle of June and paid through the end of June when our lease was up. I ended up having to go over her head to get this matter cleared up. I had to call Price Brothers, the parent company of this property and had to speak with the person over Highland Park. She was great. Needless to say, we will not be recommending this place at all! Send the extra bucks (850-900) and get a good management company with good tenants. It is worth the extra money.

Thank you for posting your comments. My boyfriend and I recently moved out of that community after living there for 6 years. We had similar experiences with the management there and decided to move out of there. It was a horrible experience. Rose was the last sane person working there. She left that property and it is now full of these girls with horrible attitudes. We are just glad we left that property! Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
