Paying WAY too much to be living here for the quality.

Outdated appliances.
Rude girls working in the office.
Everything in the apartment is falling apart.
Weird smells in the halls. Like mold and wet dog.
Will take the matenience staff more than once to fix the same problem most of the time, and they'll even leave you a nice note about how it's your fault it's broken even though you just moved in and have no idea what the problem is.
Crime is accelerating.
More concerned about the outer appearance than the living quality.

At FIRST, everyone seemed so nice. Everything seemed great.

Then upon moving in found that the air conditioner didn't work right and made awful smells.
The garbage disposal broke.
The longer here, you find that everything in your apartment is falling apart and is outdated. But it looked nice before you had to USE it.
The fan/light above the stove is falling off.
The plumbing makes awful grinding sounds.
The washer and dryer squeak loudly and sound as though they don't have much life left.
The dishwasher is horrible, it doesn't get anything clean if you put anything in the bottom rack.
Not enough cabinet space at all in the kitchen.
The windows are like hell to open and close.
The screen door to the balcony is like hell to open and close.
There is damage in the bathroom from someone clearly having a dog before.
The closet is tiny and about 10-15 degrees colder than the rest of the apartment.
Very drafty in the bedroom.
Not looking forward to winter.
Heater is nuts; either doesn't kick on when it's supposed to so you're cold, or it never stops when it's supposed to and it gets way too hot.
There are no lights in the living room or the bed room. You have to have lamps, or do without the light.
The doors stick.
Lately there have been lots of car break-ins, apartment break-ins, people have been robbed at gun point in the parking lot while getting out of their car.
Office didn't ever bother to call back and check to see if everything was okay after my car was broken into.
Someone left here because not only was her home broken into, but there was someone in her apartment WAITING for her to get home. They didn't take anything. They were just interested in HER. She had to go to Price Brothers to get anything resolved, because the girls in the office just didn't care. They even tried to argue with her and tell her that her apartment couldn't have been broken into.
There are more and more shady people moving in. And a noticable amount of people moving out.
Shady people hanging out and hassling people in the parking lots.
A guy actually sells cars in the parking lot.
Construction is annoying and inconvenient.
A busted sprinkler pours into our balcony on the 2nd floor each night.
An outlet shot large sparks when I tried to plug in a cell phone charger.
Power seems to go out a lot when we aren t home, because upon returning all of our clocks are messed up.
The list goes on.

The outside appearance was deceiving. The inside seemed good until you had to live there and experience it.

The place has it's good points, but overall the cons outway the pros. And it keeps going downhill, while the crime rate is climbing up.

This was supposed to be a really nice, really safe place. We were assured of that in the beginning. But they aren't doing anything about the recent crime. Not even so much as to call you back when you try to report it to them.

They're tricky with their rules, and they aren't very nice about helping you understand things when you call with a question.

You can do much better. We're out of here asap.

We are more than happy to take care of any maintenance requests, however if we are not made aware that there are on-going issues, we are not able to address them. Please call the manager to discuss. We strive to make Highland Park a comfortable place to live for our residents, though unfortunately there are a few things that are beyond our control; crime can happen anywhere at anytime. While we cannot guarantee anyone's safety, we do recommend that everyone is aware of their surroundings and to call the police if suspicous activity is observed. Most of the entries made on this site about our community are regarding instances that are not brought to our attention. Please understand that we cannot take care of items if we are not aware. -Highland Park Property Manager

Did you notice that the property manager didn't even address the girl who complained about someone being in her apartment? If I was management, I would have bent over backwards to help that girl including setting up a new apartment for her. I would probably even get movers to assist her!!! She has had enough trauma, coming home to her place of residents shouldn???t be one of them. We live in Johnson County for goodness sakes. I know there is crime. (i.e. the poor girl that was kidnapped at target and murdered) Managers should be sympathetic to someone like this, don???t make them feel worse or even more like it???s their fault. That???s BS!!! Apparently you don???t have kids, because if you did you would have known what to do and would have made the customer know you were on her side. Instead of her making her feel like you did. The only reason the managers and leasing agents have jobs are because of renters, RENTERS don???t have to LIVE there. They will move out and you will get more people in there and probably have A LOT more drug dealers and Pimps and the people that shouldn???t be living in freedom, but behind bars. Hope you know how to lock your apartment or cars manager???s sounds like you will soon be having a problem on your hand.

We lived at Highland Park for 2 years and at first it wasn't so bad because there were several nice, helpful girls working in the office but oh did that change!!! Anytime I had to go in to the office for something the girls were rude and acted like I was interupting their day. Also, these apartments are VERY unsafe! I understand crime can happen anywhere...I'm a adult, I get that BUT I DO believe it is the responsiblity of the apartment complex to notify their tennets if there has been any sort of crime in the complex. We lived there when someone was robbed at gun point in the parking lot and NOTHING was EVER sent out about that. We lived right next to the back pool, which we had to pay more for our "view"...when they were 3 WEEKS late opening that pool. Everything is outdated and yet they continue to increase the rent. The amount you pay for those apartments DOES NOT equal the service level or appearence! We moved to another Price Brother property (very new and wonderful!) and have been SOOOO pleased! The staff is wonderful and very helpful. It's pretty clear that the nicer the complex the better the staff...Highland Parks staff must be the worst of the company! Every staff member that we liked from Highland Park either left or was moved to another property so you're basically getting the bottom of the barrel with the staff there now. We are much happier where we are now...and much SAFER!
