Don't so it...

We lived there for over 4 years, and here is just a small list of undesirable issues:

1. Gated community - not so much. Gates were always propped open because they were broken, and the entry codes were the worst kept secret in town.

2. The clubhouse was never locked, so an undesirable element was constantly there.

3. The gate that led to the mailboxes and pool area was never locked...see the end result in item #2.

4. We had some major noise issues that the management refused to resolve, after promising to evict the party in question for over a year.

5. They erected handicap parking signs without warning to accommodate one new resident, even though they had an assigned covered parking spot right next to their front door.

6. The breezeways were always dirty and poorly lit.

7. They started raising rent of long time loyal residents, while offering huge move-in discounts to new residents. When questioned about this, they said they believed that old residents would be more inclined to pay more in rent than go to the trouble to move out.

8. The raising of rent was punishment for those who refused to sign long term lease renewals.

9. The management changed without warning or notice, and had long ago abandoned the HPV clubhouse offices for the ones next door. To pay rent and pick up packages was very inconvenient.

10. They refused to return our full security deposit when we moved out. They advised that the apartment must be in the same condition as it was in when we moved in. Sorry, but we did live there for over 4 years...normal wear and tear happens. And how would they even know what condition it was in when we moved in, as they weren't the mangers when we moved there.

11. Of course, one must weigh whether or not to pursue legal remedies or just walk away being thankful to be rid of the place.

One might say: Why did we stay' That's a good and valid question. Not easily answered, as there were circumstances beyond our control that kept us there. But rest assured that as soon as we were able, we moved out. And we don't miss the place at all.

These were just the low points, but they have definitely seen better days, and the kind of tenants they are now targeting to have move in are questionable at best. The ones who have some sense, and are able are moving out as fast as Uhaul can get them loaded up.

So long, Highpointe Village...ye suck really bad.
