If these apartments stay consistently rented, it's because of the square footage offered for the lower cost. It appears that because of this, the office does not exactly feel concerned about competing with all the many other complexes in the area.
As far as maintenance and security issues, there is a real lack of urgency on the part of management here (which, by the way, has an extraordinarily high turnover rate). All seems fine until you have an problem, and then good luck to you. Our basement once started flooding during a heavy downpour, and management actually told us it wasn't their problem. It was a weekend, and we were told that a flooding basement "does not constitute an emergency." Because this type of response is actually quite typical here, we have had to do a lot of maintenance ourselves, including to the exterior of our building. This may be just as well, because in all the time we've lived here, not once has maintenance fixed a problem that I haven't had to call in again within a couple of months. If they don't care about their property, why should anyone else here' We're still here only because our lease has the steepest buy-out I've ever seen: two months' rent.

The break lease fee is not 2 months rent....it is that you are responsible until the apartment is re-rented and if they are full like you say then you shouldn't have a problem. (you might want to make sure you actually read the next contract you sign) Also, if you are having a problem with something call the manager...she has been there 4 years which really isn't high turn over. |
