I have lived at this apartment complex since April of 2003 and never had a problem until now. I have lived in 3 apartments; all have been upgraded from a 2 bedroom to 3 bedroom to 3 bedroom townhome. Our lease came up in April of this year because the rent had gone up. My husband and I were talking about purchasing a home because the crime there has just gone up. We went ahead and signed the lease and took the lease agreement up there and let the apartment manager know that we are going to start looking for houses and if there was anything that we needed to sign, with a smile on her face, the apartment manager said "no" all we needed was to give 2 months notice and the contract to the new home. When the time came and we were approved for a loan, my husband contacted the apartment manager to let her know that a loan company would contact her and ask about our rental history. There was a silence on the end of the phone and he could hear as if she were typing. She stated "well, your lease is not up until April 2008 and that we could not break it. My husband continued to say but you stated if we were going to purchase a home that we would only give two months notice & show the contract to the home, she then said did you sign an addendum my husband said what addendum she said you were supposed to sign a home addendum at the time of your lease agreement, my husband said you never mentioned an addendum. At that time my husband said well can we sign one now, she said no it was too late. As I stated before the crime had gone up in the area and there was one day when we came home to find my that my husbands motorcycle seat had been burnt and my car was egged and a boy yelling profanity names at my daughter. We gave our notice to the Complex stating we were scared for our safety, yesterday in the mail we received a letter from an attorney representing the complex and that the apartment manager had totally lied to the attorney stating that she did mention the addendum and we declined (total lie) and that they have weekly/monthly meeting with the OPPD and had not heard of any police report being made by us (total lie again). Just be sure when you have any conversation with anyone at this apartment complex to get something signed or record any conversation. They don't take in account that you're a full hand of people that pay rent on time, had never had any complaints. If anyone has any advice for us please reply.

you have to keep in mind that you are dealing with a woman (MGR) that is bitter and hatefull! She will (to safe face) pretend that she doesnt remember having such a conversation with you. 1. Its a way to stick you with another 1yr lease... The attorney that calls you is mearly a BILL COLLECTOR and you should not give him any info with out talking with an attorny of your own!!I too have been burned by Meadowlark :-( The owners name is ----- ------ and you may look His # up.. Her bosses name is----------, she would be another person to get ahold of.. The companys name is NFI INC. The office is located on Metcalf in duplex right across the street from Sears Auto Repair..My best wishes in dealing with such a wretched person in managment... EVERYONE should get together and seek an attorney that would take her down.
MGR= She will not change her ways! To old and TOO BITTER,, she doesnt like her job and should not be dealing with people.. This is a person who sells customer relations????? She will smile in your face and stick it to you all in the name of NFI.. She often makes up her own rules and regulations,, SO BEWARE..... My best advice for you is to find others that have had problems and get a lawyer.... She makes alll kinds of mistakes and will NEVER ADMIT TO ANY OF THEM!!!!!!! The sad thing is that HER mistakes cost people money. The apt complex's reputation isnt even on the board its soooo BAD..They have a high turn-over rate in the office and none of her employees have any respect for her!! They should seek a MGR who is fair and exhibits some sort of integrity..

Update: We seeked our own attorney who responded to the apartments attorney. Our attorney stated that the Manager has lied and that if the home addendum was mentioned why would they turn it down. He also gave the attorney the police report number and also mentioned that an officer had killed a man in December of 2006. He mentioned that if the apartments give us a bad review or place this on our credit report that we will sue and ask for indemnity from the apartment mgr. We heard back from our attorney and was told that if we pay October's rent, which would be our 2nd month notice and that everything is moved out by the 30th, we could get out of our lease early without it hurting us. Good bye Apartments and good bye witch.
