Excellent place.

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I have been living here since 2004 and so far have nothing but accolades to sing about this complex. While I can always find something to criticize, the positives attenuate the negatives. However, I will discuss both.
Bug free apartments: This is a very critical factor for me, since it is my first time in the midwest. So far, I have never seen any insects that reasonable people classify as being scary or unwanted. I haven't seen roaches, ants, or any other such bugs. Occasionally, I have seen one or two spiders on the porch -- but how can you keep them away from there '
Extremely clean and beautiful complex: The gardens are very clean. The grass is always mowed on time, and you won't find any litter around. Don't take my word for it, drive around. The apartments are clean, no bad paint jobs or peeling paints etc. There are beautiful ponds with ducks (and no VP to hunt them down).
Apartment interior: Very clean. The apartments are fairly new. However, I live on the second floor and when my neighbor climbs the stairs, I can hear a few creaks. My apartment came with a washer/dryer, which was very nice of them to add to the apt. The carpet is thick. The bathroom and kitchen cabinets and fixtures show some wear. For instance, the kitchen cabinets look a bit old. While they are all functional, I guess some of them (like the bathroom sink) could be replaced. The color on the sink and the tub shows wear.
Neighbors: I moved in during August of 2004. At that time, the number of elderly residents was high. Nowadays I see more residents in the ages of 25 - 40. I like it, because I am in the middle of that demographic. As far as I can tell, most of the residents are either professionals or retired. How do I know ' Well, occasionally when I leave for work a little late (after 8:15 am), I do not notice many cars in the parking lots: residents have gone to work. Also, so far, I have never heard any noise after 8:00 pm. Infact, I moved to Kansas City from New York and sometimes find the quiet too well a bit too quiet !
Safety: So far, I have never heard of any issues. I sometimes fly in late into the city, however, never had any issues with walking outside at about 2:00 am in the night. The complex is very well lighted: The parking lots have great lighting and so do the stairways.
Location: You can't beat the location. The apartment is located on 95th Street close to Metcalf. While, it is close to several 24 hr grocery stores, the presence of a Whole Foods and a Microcenter so close to the complex clinched the deal for me.
Staff: The staff is professional. I did sometimes get curt responses or brush-offs from some of the staff, but who in this world doesn't have a bad day' One staff member: Bridgette stands out. She is friendly, professional, intelligent and efficient -- kudos to her ! In general, they are responsive and professional and that I believe is more than enough.
Maintainence: I had only one problem so far: a leak in my kitchen sink. They fixed it within 6 hrs after I called. Also, once my car was stuck in the parking lot after a major snow storm. I went down to the office to get a shovel, and they called in a maintainence person who went out of his way to dig up the snow. All I needed was a shovel and I ended up getting a person to help me out.
In summary, this is a great place to live if you are looking for a clean place to live in an extremely well-kept complex with very decent, professional (or retired) neighbors.
However, if you are looking for a luxury apartment with designer cabinets and top-notch floors and fixtures, then this is not the place for you. I suggest you check out AMLI for such apartments.
