The parking does suck, seriously.

I moved into a 3 bed 2.5 bath during the summer of '06. The only complaint I had coming into the new place was the smell of the townhome. Straight cat pee. The previous tenants obviously had at least one cat, probably more, but that means they didn't replace the carpet. I would have since the smell was the first thing I noticed when I entered the unit. Whatever, once we moved our crap in, the smell was covered up with the smell of our things, anyway. That was really my only problem at first.
I work third shift, going into work at about 6 to 7, then getting off work at about 2:30 to 4, sometimes later. You would not believe what kind of pain in the ass it is to get home at 4, 5 am and to have none of your neighbors keep their porch lights on. It's like Rapes 'R Us! I've gotten out of my car, closed and locked the door, and turned around to find a neighbor's dog--a restricted breed, a rottweiler or mix without a collar--staring me down when I'm twenty feet from my door. Scariest damned thing ever, believe me. Besides the fact that the only lights are really on top of the carports, pretty much guaranteed if I came home from 2:30 to about 5, I would have to park on the street. If I stayed later, I could maybe find a single spot. People double-park in the winter, too. They make up their own lines regardless of the fact that you can still see a defined line through the snow-slush-whatever. What pissed me off the most is when I saw Missouri plates on the cars parked in front of my house when my ass is parking in the street. We had our friends park on the street, Hell, I parked on the damned street! Late at night, people would also kind of make their own parking spaces, near the trash bins or around the curved grassy spot near the carport near our home. It was stupid. Parking really is a nightmare and they should think about assigned parking to alleviate the MO VISITORS from stealing all the spaces.
Maintenance requests took a few extra days than necessary only a time or two and we did have a major leak in the basement more than once. I guess three homes were flooded the first time, but emergency maintenance showed up an hour after I called and it was early morning, before the sun even came up so an hour's understandable! We were never able to completely get the dishwasher fixed, it would leak off and on into the basement's utility room (the laundry room if you rent a washer and dryer), and we had someone come out twice to check it out, but it just kept happening.
We had neighbors on both sides, to the left and right of us. Both were party houses, but it was mainly kept to the weekends. The cops seemed to be ever present, however, because the neighbors on the left of us had some uppity neighbors to their left, with us on the right. We had the cops come to our door one night, saying someone had called in and claiming the call came from our home. BS to involve us to cover your own butt. We were quiet so we never had any problems. If you have an issue with noise, please knock on the door and kindly ask your neighbors to turn their music down. Most people aren't dicks and they'll try to keep it down if you're not a complete jerk when you ask them. They might not realize that you can hear everything they do or that their music is too loud. If they do happen to be jerks, by all means, but the cops should be a last resort, never the very first people you call.
The grounds were kept pretty nice, the maintenance guys would come through taking care of the excess with weed whackers and everything. We had an ash tray sitting outside our door and one of the guys would always empty it for us. He appreciated the fact that we weren't throwing our butts on the ground. That was always nice to see, too. I think sometimes they went the extra mile to help us out, just to be nice, just to do it. I really liked that.
As far as the construction goes, well, we received a lead paint warning when we first signed the lease. I don't know for sure if we had lead paint, but my God if my cell phone couldn't keep or most of the time even get a signal inside the entire house. Our wireless connection also had some issues with two computers set up in the house ... on the same floor. They fixed the roof while we were there and the roofing crew managed to kick a hole through our ceiling, but SR maintenance came out and tarped the hole and had it fixed within a day or two. It wouldn't have pissed me off so badly, but the crew that did it told the front desk and when I reported it, the lady acted kind of nonchalant about it, like we didn't have a damned hole through our roof! A huge hole, seriously. It took up a fourth of the ceiling and she was just like, "Well, we'll get on that ..." Once the maintenance crew came in and saw how bad it was, they immediately took it more seriously and had said they thought it was gonna be a quick fix. Like, no, it's a huge damned hole! They got it taken care of and apologized for the inconvenience. The maintenance crew are seriously the best folks I've ever dealt with as far as apartment maintenance crews go. A !
I never had a problem with any of the office staff other than the guff given by the lady who answered my call about the hole in our ceiling. Heather has been their the entire time we had our townhome and she's always greeted me and has been nice. She's the only one that's been there the whole time, but even most of the new faces in the office have been really nice. There's a redheaded man that works there now and he was nice and helpful. I'd imagine that everyone has a different experience with these folks, but I had no problems.
Overall, the space is why we signed the lease. You seriously won't be able to beat this much space for under two grand. Our square footage was, what, 2054 or something ridiculous. I would suggest to everyone interested in a townhome to get a floorplan with the patio door on the first floor, not in the basement. We found it was kind of a hassle to have people go out back to smoke or do whatever.
With parking on the street or a carport being your only real option with this place, if you're wanting a huge place for very little split 3 to 4 ways, the nightmare parking situation is quickly overshadowed by the sheer amount of space the places come with. The maintenance as far as my experience goes was top-notch. The office staff was nice and helpful. It's not the best place to live because it's farther from my job than my new place, some of the neighbors are kinda iffy, and the parking situation needs addressed, but I'd probably lease again if given the chance to get a smaller unit.
