Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I have lived in a 1br 1bath for just over a year. I must be lucky, because I have never seen a bug in my apt. The rent is (at least was when I moved in) great compaired to comparable apts in the area. Maintenance has always been fairly quick even with small stuff. I have never had an emergency so I don't know about that reaction time.
My apt was clean when I moved. New carpet, everything painted white! They do paint everything: walls, ceiling, baseboards, electrical plugs, light switches, etc. I had to chip paint off of a few switches before they would turn on and off properly. The dishwasher is pretty old and doesn't do that great of a job, but I can't say it isn't working so I haven't complained. I really never have any trouble with parking. It gets full, but I almost always find a spot within 2-3 of my prefered spot. I've had friends and family over several times and they never have trouble finding a spot close to my building.
The grounds are kept acceptably clean and neat. I see staff picking up trash and keeping stuff neat several times a week. I have swam at two of the 3 pools. They were clean, but smallish. Not any smaller than other apts I've lived in. The area is pretty safe. I have walked to Walmart late at night and felt very safe. I also walk to a small park about 4 blocks away in a residential neighborhood behind Skyler Ridge and have always felt safe.
I rarely bump into my neighbors and aside from hearing them turn on the water for showers (only heard in bathroom), I never hear them.
The staff are always presentable and professional, but sometimes seem lost when asked anything that doesn't involve signing a lease.
The building itself is in ok shape. The walls in my apt are sound. Windows are a little old and can be cool in the winter, but, again, not unacceptable. My cabinets in the kitchen are showing signs of age, but still function (one of my drawers kept falling out, but maintenance fixed it to my satisfation on the second attempt).
All in all. I would encourage (and have) friends to consider Skyler Ridge. I think the price is high, but on a special, it is a good price for what you get. I like my apt (the cool triangular design of the rooms makes things seem spacious), it was a good decision for me.
