I moved in April of 06. The Thursday before Memorial Day my apartment flooded when the main line outside backed up. Maintenance came and called in plumbers, who took 4 hours to find the problem (it was close to midnight when they left). A cleaning company sucked up the water and left huge noisy fans in the apartment from Thursday night until Tuesday afternoon. That same company recommended new carpets or at least new carpet pads. I had a second flood the following day because the retarded plumbers knocked a pipe loose from the air conditioner. This water did not get cleaned up, instead it was left to air dry with the giant fans.
One week later I started inquiring about getting new carpets. I was told I wouldn't get them. The office said my flood was caused by the air conditioner, thus clean water, thus no need for new carpets. They were very rude and would not listen when I said no, that was the second flood and the first was water from the main line.
Today I am still living with the same carpets and really gross stains on all the floorboards which I'm afraid might be from mold. I am waiting out my lease and then I'm moving.
