There's Good and Bad here!

I have lived on the south side of the lakes at lionsgate for one year in april. I am moving because I'm moving out of state. There are good things and bad things just like you will find at ANY apartment! First I'll tell you the bad stuff about my first floor apartment....it is very cold! I've had $100 plus electricity bills all winter, and I'm still pretty cold with the heat up (i.e. covered with blankets while watching t.v.). Part of it is that the heat kicks on warm for one cycle and then blows three or four cycles of cold air again before heat so you never really get warm. Plus I think it's just poorly insulated buildings, there isn't much they can do about that, but they could provide energy efficient or better working furnaces! It stays pretty cool in the summer because there isn't a lot of direct light from outside, but I still had to have the air on so it didn't get humid. The mice were an issue in my outside storage, I was afraid to leave my sliding glass door open in the spring or let my dog out there cause I thought she would eat one! The walls aren't that thin, you could hear some stuff, but thats what you get in any apartment! Compaired to my last apt (AMLI) where I could hear people urinating, talking, and watching t.v!!
Now, for the good things! I love the space of my apartment! The floor plan is great and the storage is amazing! I'm having trouble finding compairable storage in a new apt! I love that I have a coat closet in the entry, shelves in the laundry area, space for stuff in the a/c closet, and two huge walk in closets in my bedroom, plus the outide storage is nice (minus the mouse thing!) The balconies are huge for the one bedrooms! I got a pretty good deal by finding a special they were running in the winter and then paying a "hold the rate" fee to keep it until I was ready to move in in april! I think I would stay in this apartment, if I wasn't moving to a new city, but I'd probably go with a 2nd floor this time! So good luck, I liked it better than most I saw while apt hunting in the area, and you are going to have issues anywhere you go, so I would suggest talking with people who have lived here to get an opinion, generally only angry people remember to write reviews!!!

I'm not angry, just disappointed that the employees whose salary I pay with my rent, are not competent enough to do their jobs. Anger has nothing to do with it, and that's my review.

I live on the first floor and another added bonus of that location is the various bugs you get in there. I've had ants, rolly pollys, ground spiders, centipedes, stag beetles, etc.... I'm not exaggerating this in the least. There were times that I would jsut cry because the apartment couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it. They jsut said they didn't send them in and all they could do is spray. How about move the mulch away from the buildings like any exterminator would tell you? Our lease is up at the end of April and we are out. We lived at an AMLI before this and the only complaint I had was the ice on the sidewalks but that wasn't the apartments fault. The building faced North so the sun barely touched it.

Only angry people write remember to write reviews?? I don't believe that for a minute! Even if that's true, there are a lot of "angry people" in this complex (look at all the negative reviews in the last few months). If Lionsgate management was doing their job, there wouldn't be so many complaints.
