To Whom It May Concern,
As a resident who pays on time, creates no disturbances and rarely calls for maintenance, I find it appalling that I am treated with such disrespect by The Preserve At Overland Park Management team. On numerous occasions, I have called at 4:45 in the morning and left messages about the yappy dog above us. I went into the office on 12-1-07 and mentioned this again to the girl behind the desk. At that time she told me she would again send someone to talk to them. (She did not write anything down and seemed to dismiss me.) That week I complained 2 times! Finally on 12-8-07 I called and left a message asking the manager to call as I could not fall asleep due to the dog above barking for an hour at 11:45 at night!
When Monday rolled around a girl from the office called and said that they had finally sent a letter to the person above me telling them they needed to register the dog with the complex. (Is it me, or is the dog not being registered not the issue'! I honestly couldn't care less if the yappy thing was registered with the complex! I want the thing to have a muzzle!) Any way, when I asked what else they were going to do, as I was yet again woken up by the dog they said they would look into it. I told her that the manager better call me and that I was still extremely dissatisfied with the service and cooperation of the property.
When I got off work and had still not heard from the traveling manager, (Yes, that's right, there is NO MANAGER ON THE PROPERTY. HE FLOATS TO AND FRO AS HE PLEASES!) I decided to pop into the office and ask to speak with him. When I did I was surprised to see that he was in. When he saw me, he just sat there stating that he was going to be getting around to my issues but that he had not yet. When I asked why all of my previous complaints had not been addressed he looked at me blankly and stated that he had not been informed of any other complaints. Saturday was the first he had heard about this issue. (I find this hard to believe.) Now, before 12-1-07 I did not keep record of the phone calls I made to the front office, I did not think I would have to, but this lack of action proves ALWAYS have the office sign each complaint and give you a copy. They are obviously not capable of running a complex!
I should also note that I have yet to hear a "So sorry, let me see if I can call the person" or "Let me take something off your rent" or "We would be happy to move you" and my favorite, "If you would like we would be happy to let you out of your lease so you do not raise a big stink and make us seem like useless morons."
I would like to hear from a management representative as I got to hear the horrid thing upstairs bark all this morning. Make me happy.

Sound like you need a house in the country where no one is near you. It is a pet friendly communtiy. The staff, unless I am mistaken, is not able to control a dog. I have a dog below me that barks occasionally. I know I live close to other people and their pets. Get a hobby. Life could be much worse...

An occasional bark is one thing, but to have to live next to a constantly yipping, barking animal is another. The staff needs to check out the complaint (maybe even go stand outside the door and hear for themselves) or talk to the owners. Sometimes a dog barks incessantly because it has been left alone. Pet friendly doesn't mean allowing pets to disturb human's peace. After all, who pays the rent???

Call Animal Control. OP does not allow a pet to disturb neighbors. Keep calling them until you get satisfaction. This is not good for the dog, either. We had the same problem in another apartment complex. Management was useless.

the girls in the office get on here and comment on everyone who has had a problem! go through the posts. they say GET OVER IT, GROW UP, GET A HOBBY, GET A LIFE, LEARN HOW TO SPELL. its the same in every message they leave. why not, instead of getting on here and being -------, why don't you help the people who live there! duh!
