move-out "gotcha" From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 8/13/2008 Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008   We lived at Woods of Cherry Creek for a year. The apartment was nice, but in retrospect it was not worth the high price of the rent. Our lease was thru July 31, but we bought a house and moved June 23. We paid the July rent, but did not receive our deposit back until Aug 13 (almost 2 months after we moved out). Then they hit our checking account in August for another month's rent, even though they corrected it the following day. The real clincher--they held out money for the water bill thru July 31 (pro-rated among units they said and they control the water utility billing) AND a $10 "late fee" even though they had the keys since June 23. They said it is in the lease, but I still cannot find it. Even though we always paid on time, and left the apartment spotless, we feel they cheated us out of our deposit with the bogus water bill when we moved out.
