Here is a warning to you if you plan to move into the University Commons:
They may say that it is newly renovated, and they may say that they care about their renters, but neither assertion is accurate. There are bugs in the halls, the office staff is unbelievably rude, and the maintenance staff is almost non-existent.
The apartments are extremely overpriced ($490 for a studio apartment in Pittsburg, Kansas is absolutely ridiculous) and the walls are very thin (so noise is a definite problem). The parking lot is not the safest at night, and there is often broken glass on the parking lot floor. In fact, my car's tire was punctured by broken glass in the parking lot.
In other words: Unless you want to live in an overpriced roach motel with a rude staff, the University Commons is for you.

University Commons is working at updating their apts. They are painting, putting in new light fixtures and even adding ceiling fans to some units. I think these few things will help greatly. I live in these apts. currently and I have had a few bugs but the maintance staff has come to solve the problem and even asked me if I saw them anymore. The office staff is great if you are willing to cooperate with them and be understanding. Also, I have searched other apartment complexs and for the price (including utilities) it is the best you can find in Pittsburg.
