Look somewhere else for a home

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
My wife and I lived here in one of the townhomes for three years, and the last two were the worst. During the second year our a/c broke down in August, and the only response from their "24hr maintanence" was "Just open the windows because it's supposed to be a cool night. I'm north of the river, and it'll be way past midnight before I can get there."
We were of course outraged at the remark, and would've stayed up after midnight just to have our a/c fixed. Needless to say we had a toasty night even with the windows open and fans blowing at high speed. Our complaints to the office were wasted breath.
Parking is another big issue. Parking lot lights stay off or burned out for months, and some tenants have more cars than the two car limit per apartment policy. After a winter snow storm, the plows didn't get there until 5pm when people were coming home, and the lots were full of cars.
There was construction on the sewer system so the smell would go away, but the smell came back and even more unbearable. So much for sitting out on the balcony on nice evenings.
There was a children's playground close by, but the kids preferred to play in the dumpsters creating big messes. Parents were nowhere around. Dumpster divers salvaging through trash for stuff. Good way for identity theft to occur.
Noisy neighbors and thin walls are another problem. We don't smoke, but our home was stenched from our neighbors' smoking. It would've been nice if management had smoke free apartments.
We could go on and on about other numerous problems, but by now it should be clear that this complex leaves MUCH to be desired.
