If you want to park 3 bldgs away!

I moved into the Greens in early 2007. I was remodeling a house I had bought and needed a short-term lease somewhere clean and quiet so I could at least depend on a good nights rest during the renovation process. The Greens was one of very few options I had open within driving distance and offering small leases. And, for a little bit more money I could have it furnished, which was a plus and meant I wouldn't have to worry about moving more than a suitcase when the process was all said and done. So, I was happy to sign my lease.
Then I moved in.
The mysterious pink stain someone else here mentions... It was in my apartment on walls and floor/carpets. Cracks in walls. Also my spare bedroom wouldn't allow cold or heat through. But the worst problem wasn't any of these... it was the parking!
When you see an apartment during the day you assume the number of people parked there will increase overnight... but at The Greens is was double or triple what parking I saw during the day! This presented a major problem and caused me night after night after night to park 3 or 4 buildings away. Many times I simply parked in the golf course lot and walked all the way over to my apartment. I tried to be flexible with this annoyance. I told myself... "No problem! You're get in some exercise!" But, Hello'!''! I was paying quite a bit each month for comfort, ease of stress, and a relaxing place to come rest my head. Not for a gym membership which I was forced to use every night when I wanted to park my car!!
I could have paid another $20 for a carport spot, but two neighbors who had carport spots told me not to... that half the time I would drive home and not even have a spot because non-carport renters were parked there for lack of regular parking.
Several nights people double parked behind my car and I couldn't get out and had to keep honking my horn and just waiting for them to come back out!!
Another night I had to park at the very end near the dumpster. No problem. Until the next morning (not trash day!) when someone had padlocked the trash door open in such a way I literally had 4 inches of clearance to back my car out. Back and forward about 7 times, I finally got my car out... but what if I hadn't had a compact car'!
I found the management during each episode I called to sound rude, inconvenienced, in a rush, and lacking in empathy. I didn't ask for money off my rent or other special exceptions... I simply wanted my vents to work or an answer as to when and how they are attempting to alleviate the parking situation. The only answers I received are (paraphasing here)... "Well, we know that parking is a bit of a problem and are working on it. It's just a particular challenge due to our proximity to K7 and 435. We have a number of commuters." COMMUTERS'!'! I have lived in NYC, Chicago, and Washington, DC!! I have seen "commuters". I began to think everyone there owned 4 cars!!! In fact, one of my neighbors and his wife did own three... one an antique car that sat parked in the same spot all the time!!
Geez.
I was so happy to leave there. Moving back into my partially finished house with partially painted walls and non-existent kitchen cabinets was preferable to the nagging problem of paying for something and getting little in return.

I am not surprised at all to hear that the management is still bad. I also had very similar problems with management and I lived there 3 years ago. In my one year living there, they went through 3 different sets of managers, and the best ones stayed for the shortest amount of time. Parking was definitely an issue if you came home anytime after 5:30pm. The gates at that time didn't work but 20% of the time. I lived in a first floor apartment and I could hear just about every step the person living above me took. When they vacuumed, it was almost as loud as if someone was vacuuming in the room next to me in my own apartment. I highly do NOT recommend living there. They put on a sweet face before you sign the lease, but after that you mean nothing.

I, too, had a horrible experience with these apartments. Managment there was very unprofessional...and this was 5 years ago! It even sounds like things have gotten worse. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Apartment living is just that...apartment living. How can anyone expect it to be quiet? How can anyone expect the management to be professional when they get paid peanuts, probably don't know how to actually do their job and really don't want to hear about a problem (parking for example) they can't cure themselves.
The complaints should probably be directed to the management's headquarters where the people actually have some pull to get things done and to make changes.

I lived there in 2001 for a year. funny, all the same problems then as now. Parking was a huge problem. Always a promise that they were going to "do something about it". That was 6 years ago! Management was not very good, but I have to admit that for what I was paying 585.00/ mo. it wasn't all that bad. I had a nice clean place, low utility bills, good appliances, and didn't have to pay for cable. I was definately a give and take....
