How did I ever get so lucky' Luck was only part of it. First, I researched the Internet and finally found this website. (I'm so grateful for everyone's helpful comments.) Second, I drove through the complex several times during the day and at night to make sure it was as quiet, well maintained, and pleasant as it seemed. (Driving at night I discovered that some apartments were too near street lights or lights from neighboring buildings, so I avoided those.) The garages open onto alleys, so the apartments face the grassy common area with its sidewalks, which gives the complex a nice suburban feel. Finally, I noticed little things that made PGE the perfect choice for me: people walking their dogs, an older woman sitting out on her stoop watching the world go by, birds singing, rabbits darting past, flower beds, an altogether peaceful setting.

My favorite things about this apartment:
- attached garage
- large storage closet
- washer/dryer in apartment
- well-maintained grounds, lots of trees and wildlife (rabbits, birds, chipmunks, squirrels)
- VERY quiet (do I even have neighbors')
- private patio
- excellent, attentive, courteous staff
- within one-half mile of library, access to I-35, convenience store/gas station, Antioch Park, and a little park with playground equipment just a few steps from my apartment.
- $200 deposit for each pet, maximum of 2, but no additional monthly fee

Things (very minor things :-) I would change
- put up a few signs that remind people to pick up after their dogs
- newer appliances
- the apartment is small (but that just keeps me from collecting clutter, and I have the big storage closet for out-of-season items)
- the parking is limited (but if we had more parking we would lose that park-like feel)
- I wish we could use email to contact maintenance for non-urgent problems

If you are looking for a comfortable, convenient, quiet, charming place to live, I highly recommend Pinegate East.
