I was really excited about seeing this apartment complex after reading the reviews on this web site. When I pulled up for a tour, however, my jaw dropped. I was immediately disappointed with the apartments' appearance, but I wanted to keep an open mind, so I continued and went on the tour.
The place is 23 years old, and looks 40. The buildings are dirty, not well kept, and the siding is falling off. There are bug guts covering the walls surrounding the doors to each apartment-- is power washing really that difficult'! Siding is falling off of several buildings, exposing the under-layer of what I guess is insulation. The apartments are advertised as "first floor" but they are certainly not! You have to walk up a flight of rickety, wooden steps to get to each apartment because they are on the SECOND floor, above the garages.
The garages are shared-- it's one big garage with 4 or 5 doors that you share with your neighbors. There are also "storage rooms" that are the size of a broom closet (3'x5') for each unit in the garage. When I asked to see how big the empty one was, the leasing agent said she didn't know which was empty, so she just opened one that was occupied and had someone's personal belongings in it to show me! I couldn't believe it. No respect for privacy. The garages also are EXTREMELY poorly lit and do not feel safe at all.
Back to the actual unit-- I was shown the two bedroom, two bath unit. The size was okay, and the bedrooms were relatively spacious. The balcony was scary and I don't think I'd even trust it to hold a plant. The appliances are ABYSMAL. I asked if the actual rented units had upgraded appliances, but they do not. I'm 22, and I remember having the exact same stove in my childhood home as what is in these apartments. The washer and dryer were equally pathetic. They are very old, and not full-sized.
The fitness center is a joke with outdated equipment. The other amenities are all non-working: a sauna, hot tub, and steam room-- all "undergoing maintenance." The whole site is also shared with some sort of construction or contractor business, so there are trucks constantly going in and out. I left, hardly believing this was the same apartment complex I had read reviews about. And at $815/month for a two bed/two bath, I practically laughed my way to the car.
We leased at AMLI Lexington Farms instead. For the exact same price, we got a MUCH nicer, larger apartment, NEW appliances, a nice-looking area, and WORKING amenities. No garage, though. I think I'll survive.

We are aware that the siding needs replaced. We are getting bids and will be replacing the siding when the weather is warmer. We can not replace siding in the winter. The buildings were power washed over the summer. Due to the extreme weather we have had this year it has taken a harder toll then normal on the siding and buildings.
The apartments are ground level and 2nd level which is notated in our advertisments.
Storage units are different sizes depending if you live in a north facing building or a south facing building. They are either 3 x 5 or 5 x 8. We would not have shown an occupied storage unit of a resident without their prior permission. The storage unit shown with the 2 bedroom 2 baths is the storage unit for the model and that is our belongings in the storage unit.
Our appliances are replaced as needed - maintenance does a wonderful job repairing appliances, if they are not able to be repaired to a certain standard then we will replace it.
The weight room is available to residents 24 hours a day and the equipment was replaced 3 years ago.
Hot tub was being cleaned. Steam room was being cleaned and the old caulking was being scraped out and redone.
The building next to ours is APEX Engineers. That is the only part of our community they use. They have small trucks which park in their area, they do not park in any of the Pinegate parking.

We looked at Pinegate East recently and were not impressed, although, didn't find it quite as bad as this review suggests. The ground level (yes,it WAS ground level) had very hard floors with thin carpet (felt like we were walking on cement). The garage was a nice touch but it was a common garage that had a door that went directly into the available apartment, which didn't seem like such a great deal for the resident of that apartment (hearing the garage doors open all the time, car doors slamming, people in the garage, etc.) The apartment we were shown definitely showed it's age and seemed a bit overpriced. However, how many complexes of that age even have garages instead of carports? The grounds seemed well kept and we were not really interested in the weight room or hot tub so I can't speak to that issue.
