An excellent place to live! -- not so much anymore

I'm leaving my original review in place for reference.

I am changing my rating and removing my recommendation.

This complex recently got a new manager (same management company, just new face in the office), and things have declined since. While the new manager is nice (and knows me by name), nice doesn't always cut it. I wonder if she screens potential tenants at all, or just accepts anybody who plunks down the money.

Noise has increased dramatically, as has trash in the parking lot. There has been a significant increase in car break-ins just this year.

Also... the condition of my parking lot is bad. One of the concrete barriers protecting a fire hydrant was knocked down last winter and still has not been fixed. This happened nearly eight months ago.

My apartment is still fine. Maintenance calls are still handled promptly, and furnace filters are changed regularly. It's not all bad. But, not good enough to actually recommend.

(original review follows)

I love my apartment here. I had been looking to buy a house, but decided to wait and get another apartment instead. Now that I'm here, I've put off the house thing for a few years. This place is that good.

No, it's not new, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I looked around, and the newer apartments just didn't have room for my furniture.

Here, I've got a ton of room. Excellent floor plan. Loads of space and *closets*.

It's quiet, and I've got a really nice view of the wooded area behind my building.

The landscaping around the building is unimaginative, but the area is kept clean. I don't see the outside much, so I don't really care.

Snow removal! The crews were out here within two hours after the last snowfall, clearing the street and the parking lots. Thumbs up!

Maintenance issues have been dealt with promptly. Furnace filters are changed regularly, with notice given that someone's coming to do it.

Laundry room in the basement isn't the greatest, but it's nothing scary or bad.

I did have a spider problem the first spring I was here. I figured it was probably due to all the trees (this building is practically in the woods), but called the office and arranged for pest control. Spiders diminished in numbers significantly following the spraying. I still see an occasional spider, but it's no more than you'd see in any home. Also, no other bug problems.

Management's been great. I love living somewhere where I'm greeted by name whenever I come into the office.

Overall, it's a really good place to live. Best square footage for your dollar. I'd definitely recommend it.
