I lived at Pinegate West for a year and experienced the great aspects of living there and unfortunately many negative ones. I had a ground floor, one bedroom unit. The rent was quite reasonable, especially given the attached garage. I had no problems with noise - no one lives below or above you. The staff was always very helpful and quick to respond to maintenance requests.
However, when I moved in, several electrical outlets were not working and my bathroom sink had no hot water. My dishwasher and washing machine broke the same week - both required two visits from maintenance before they were both replaced, which took about a week. My apartment smelled of cigarette smoke - the smell came through openings in a common wall. Throughout my stay I had major problems with bugs, specifically crickets, even though the complex has terminators who spray. Finally, I found that while keeping my apartment at a reasonable temperature in the winter (64ish), my gas bill was over $100 for the coldest couple of months.

Really sorry to hear your complaints about the maintenance problems; I can certainly understand how frustrating that could be. However, as far as the smoke smell, that has nothing to do with maintenance. I have lived in this complex over 7 yrs and any maintenance problems I has were remedied by maintenance as quickly as possible.
I wholeheartedly agree about the insulation; it is extremely insufficient.
No apt complex is perfect; we just have to find a place to call home that works best for us.

First off, I want to say we didn't live here. We were searching for a place with a garage (company car - has to be garaged) but were SO disappointed with this complex. Tons of deferred maintenance - the sidewalks right in front of our entrance had crumbled to dust! The wooden stairs were warped, split, and had nails sticking up to trip you. Lots of dead bugs in the apartment they showed us. Overall it looked like cheap, cheap, cheap. Although the rent was cheap, and they were running a great special, we decided not to risk it. It's hard to find an affordable apartment in Johnson County with a garage, but we'll keep looking.
