I have lived here since last June, 2003. In October I let the office know of the terrible conditions of the walkways and an especially bad place in the roof on my building. Nothing was done - it's now March, 2004. During the winter, heaven help you if you have to walk on the sidewalk or the stairs and it's slick. They will not be shoveled or salted until it starts to melt on its own. If you have noisy neighbors, be prepared to do something about it on your own - and then face the reprecussions. If you have a problem, never count on the office staff to help you. They're ignorant and rude. The reason this place is the lowest rent in Johnson County is because it is dirty and loud. When I say dirty, I don't just mean the half-ass way they clean your apartment before you move in; I also mean the grounds themselves. There is trash everywhere all the time.
If you can't afford anywhere else at all, you'll probably do alright here. But I'm going to move and pay more than $200 more somewhere else not very far away simply because this place is awful. They are always offering $300 to their residents if they refer people to their property; however, they could never offer me enough to refer someone I even remotely like to live here.

i just want to let everyone know that this took place years ago.this place is now The Retreat of shawnee, i lived here for almost 3 years cedar tree management was horrible. i went thru all of that. but now its just fine. i like this place specially the free yoga class. i will miss that but i must go due to my job.
