I have has so many issues since I moved in. First off, the walls are super thin, so you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. The spakling work on the walls is horrible, not smooth at all. I put in a work order 7/31, and it still has not been fixed. When I went in this past weekend to check on it, the person said they were very busy w/ other projects. Funny since I just saw the maintainence guys racking leaves last week. In January, my apartment was flooded 4 times from a defective washer, that they just couldn't figure out how to tell the washer company what was broken. The first time it happened, it was 4 days before they sent someone out to suck up all the water. My apt. smelled horrible, and I had to live in my bedroom the whole time, because my furniture was shoved into my kitchen and hallway, so as not to ruin it. I think I had a normal apartment for 6 days the whole month of January. The only thing the manager did was took $200 off my rent. I should have gotten the whole month for free! I also had issues w/ my electricity, which took them over 2 months to figure out. Most of the people who live in the complex have no respect for others. They throw their trash all over, and don't pick up after their dogs. DISGUSTING! My washer sounds horrible when it runs. I figure why call about it, since they wouldn't do anything anyway. The airconditioning unit is in the bedroom, and is very loud. It wakes me up in the middle of the night! I have asked if they can check it, but don't think they have bothered. When I was having issues w/ my dishwasher, they told me there was nothing wrong with it. I ended up fixing it myself. I can't wait for my lease to be done, so I can get the hell out of this place, it royally sucks!

AMEN! I put in a work order before labor day and it is still not fixed. I called 4 times and on the fourth time the girl told me it had never been written down. Needless to say that was 2 weeks ago and it is still not fixed. The bugs are never ending! I am fully aware of all of people around me's conversation, oh yeah and my A.C. has not worked since JUNE but we figured why call and tell them they will never come fix it, we are never home, maybe home once a week because we hate our apt. so much so we just didn't even bother with it, well last month my KCPL bill was $200.00 I just cant explain how an apt with no one home ever, and no AC our bill was that much. I brought it up to the office and they said they would have the manager call me, Guess what???? Yep that never happened! I sympathize with you and can not wait to get the F*** out of this hell hole!

Yah my experience at The Retreat of Shawnee was not a pleasant one at all either. I moved in to a soaking wet bathroom floor and was told that it was probably from the carpet cleaner. Speaking of carpet cleaning, I was promised an apartment with NEW carpet, I moved in and the carpet looked like it was about 10 years old, I immediatly called the office to complain about this and they told me there was nothing they could do except have someone come out and clean it again. I agreed and moved my moving day to the following day to allow for the carpet to dry before placing furniture on it. So for the toilet, I was naive and thought that there logic was reasonable. I threw some towels down and didn't think about it again, until the water kept appearing. I called the office about this issue several times. I got home one evening and the hall way carpet out side of my bathroom was completely soaking, I called the office and spoke with a new manager. She told me she would have someone come take a look at it, about 10 mins later she and a maintenace guy did show up, he was looking at the toilet and she sat and talked to me and apologized for the issues i was having. The mainenance guy walked out of the bathroom with toilet in hand and said he would be back with a new one because mine was cracked. She had left at this point and told me that she would call me in the morning to make sure everything was ok. I waited around for an hour or so for the mainenance guy to come back with a toilet, he never did. At this poing the office had closed, so I called and left a message with the emergency maintenance a guy had called back and told me that he didnt know anything about the issue and that someone would eventually bring a toilet back. Yah well that never happened and let me tell you what it not easy to live without a toilet. I called the office the next morning and talked to someone completly different and told them what had happened and she told me she would figure it out. I went home for lunch and still not toilet, at this point i was a little peeved. I went to the office and went off. There was a toilet there when i got home. I lived there for a yr, and I could not wait for the day i moved out. The maintenance staff was horrible. This is the biggest SLUM ville I have ever lived in and I wouldn't suggest anyone living there not even my worst enemy. And BUGS are terrible, but I guess that just comes from the class of people that live there.
