In september of 2005 at least 12 cars were broken into and thousands of dollars worth of items were stolen in the lower section of Tuckaway. One tenant had his kids bicycles on the back of his SUV...both were stolen. Ask managemement how this could happen on there secure gated community. I doubt if they will tell you the gates often malfunction and are left open for long periods of time. In this case the gate on Midland which should never open except in emergencies was left open for the whole weekend. A few thugs entered very early in the AM and broke into many residents cars. If management wont tell what happened you can check with the Shawnee police department...... they were there all morning making reports. Several residents moved out because of this.

This is a repeat of something that was written 1 year ago by an individual who must be disgruntled about something that didn't go his/her way. There was an incident that happened where someone went through unlocked cars back in 2005. The front gates are held open from 7 am - 6 pm, Monday - Friday and closed on nights and weekends. The gate being mentioned on Midland Drive is an emergency access gate only and is activated by emergency (police & fire) vehicles. If a fire truck or police car goes by and has sirens on, it may open this gate. These gates rarely malfunction. The gates are a great security feature but they are not full proof and it is impossible to keep everyone out if they want in. We have a 24 hr emergency maintenance man who lives on site as well as office personnel. I urge everyone to call the Shawnee police department at 913-631-2155 and ask to speak with Officer Terry Kegin (ext 504) who is the Crime Prevention/Security Specialist for this area and ask his opinion. I believe his opinion of our community greatly outweighs this individual who chooses to be anonymous. Feel free to call us at Tuckaway (913)268-9922 Sean Property Manager
