I recently moved into Berkshire apartments because I fell in love with the layout of my two bedroom townhome. I love the amount of space I have and the layout of the townhome, but I would rather not talk with the staff. It seems that every time I go into the office there is a different person to speak with, and the manager never seems to be on duty. I recently was charged a late fee for turning in my rent when it was on time. I wrote a check for my rent and asked that they not cash it until September 5th because of the Labor day holiday. After turning in my rent on the first with my attached note, I was charged a $25 late fee because I was not within the 1st and 3rd of the month. When I called to try and explain that I did have rent in on time and that it was just because of the holiday that my paycheck would not be in my account, one of the staff workers was very rude and argued with me about my situation saying that I was no exception and that everyone is required to pay rent by the 3rd at the latest. I spent about 20 minutes trying to explain, but she kept giving me the same answers and treated me like a child. The staff is nice when they want you to sign a contract for 12 months, but their attitudes change drastically once you have moved in.
