La Crosse Apartments & Carriage Homes

As with most things, what looks nice on the outside isn't so on the inside.
The women who run La Crosse have a chip on their shoulders, from where they got it I'm not entirely sure. One of the office managers is the daughter of the community manager, so good luck pushing items of concern up the ladder. They are snobby, rude, have fake personalities, won't listen and won't take the time to help with problems. We were there for two years and on the occasions that we had an issue that needed addressed, they were of little help, and rarely showed interest in providing it. I was never comfortable around them.
Our outdoor patio storage leaked all over our belongings. They said it would take a few weeks to repair. After having our living room overrun with items from storage, we had to take the initiative and ask them to store our items in an empty garage.
We found a pair of kitchen shears stabbed into our dining room table leg shortly after having several maintenance staff in our apartment for moving items to storage. After reporting it and filling out an incident report, we never heard another word out of them and no attempts were ever made to resolve the issue. A little disconcerting that there was vandalism in our apartment and never any attempts to correct it. (Maintenance has free access to all apartments and they can and do come in anytime they like.)
We signed on for a second year, were promised free carpet cleaning, and we never received it.
At the move-out walk through we were told the carpet would be the only item that would need to be addressed, this is what we signed off on before returning the keys. We received a bill in the mail a few weeks later for a number of items that hadn't been addressed at the walk through. I would suggest getting absolutely every dime itemized in writing before leaving there.
The walking trail would have been nice had it not been saturated in goose excrement and it had a level and smooth surface. Unfortunately, it did not.
I made several reports of problems and damage to the gas grill outside of our building. While grills around the property were updated, this one was never replaced.
I once asked where residents should go in the likelihood of a tornado - the office employee shrugged and said they didn't really have anywhere that we could go.
Couple of good things to say:
> Quiet, rarely knew anyone else was around us.
> Access to highway.
> Tall ceilings, big windows with a lot of light.
Thanks for the stale cookies and 25c carnations.
